I like most of his stuff... damn shame a person can't buy it, well at least I tried to, but I couldn't figure out where. And from the Google translate thingy I got the distinct idea he did not want to sell to Westerners as we tend to upload the stuff for free to... errr, ummm, blogs. Lol. |

What's the deal with the black line across the guy's cock head? Is it like a breast pasty that covers the nipple to make it acceptable to be seen in public? |
| |||
In japan they have censorship laws that do not permit the showing of sex organs in porn without some form of censor on them. This doesn't (surprise, surprise) in fact stop people of finding ways around this. Porn artists exploit the law by puting those tiny black bars on the genetailia or using minimal "mosaic" bluring. This minimal form of censoring is acepted by the courts in the country even thought you very much know what that thing behind the censor is and what it looks like. It's an odd law because it in no way deters artisits or pornographers, but I guess it's there just so that the conservatives in the country can feel good about themselves. |

I would love this stuff IF it wasn't for the hugely oversized cocks....they are a real turnoff, at least for me. |

I think Bara is a style, you can search y-gallery, blogspot etc., there are bound to be quite a few. |

"Bara" isn't exactly a style, it's more a genre. So is "yaoi". But since people's ideas of what falls into which category vary so much, self-categorization is not a reliable guide, unfortunately. "Yaoi" is a portmanteau (abbreviation?) of several Japanese words, which together means something like "without meaning or motivation". Originally, the idea was just to draw pictures or comics, usually doujinshi (fan comics), of male characters having sex (often disregarding canonical sexual orientation) without bothering to explain anything about how this could possibly have happened. Gradually, it has taken on a more generic sense of "gay male sex fiction" (including original works), but there's often a sort of unreality involved, too -- the characters act unrealistically, or find things attractive which guys generally don't, or whatever. Quite frequently, the characters tend to be young and pretty in a feminine way. (A lot of yaoi comics are written by, and for, women, and gay men in Japan tend to be more closeted than in the west. Imagine a lesbian sex comic written by a heterosexual man who had never actually spoken with a lesbian, and you'll have some notion of why yaoi tends to be unrealistic.) An awful lot of yaoi is about, well, younger people *ahem*, so if you just start looking around for it without taking any precautions, you may see things you don't want to see. "Bara" is a subgenre of yaoi -- in theory, of course -- in which one or both characters are more macho. Sometimes that means more muscle, sometimes it just means "adult, more realistic men". (I suspect that you could almost go so far as to say "bara is yaoi written by a man", but that may be overgeneralization. ) Unfortunately, not all bara is labelled as bara, so you can't just go looking for that label and find everything -- some of it is classified as yaoi. (And comics which have musclemen as characters but where their sex lives aren't actually the focus might not have either label.) And, of course, Japanese standards don't necessarily align with ours, so not everything labelled "bara" because of muscle is terribly impressive. The word "bara" means "rose"; IIRC it's because thorny rosebushes were often used as backgrounds for more macho characters in yaoi, but that could be totally off-base so don't quote me on it. (Two other words you may want to know: "seme" and "uke" -- in most yaoi comics, there's a definite top and a definite bottom. The top is the seme, and the bottom is the uke. Usually, the uke is much more feminine, because the average Japanese straight person cannot imagine a guy wanting to stick it in another guy unless the other guy looks like a girl. It is relatively rare to find a plain yaoi comic in which the characters change roles; bara tends to be a little less static.) |

WOW, thanks tekuno! Finally someone is able to explain those things to me... Always wondered what those terms really mean... |

Oooh yeah, boy oh boy, 1 or two hours on any Japanese or anime-esque website that caters to adult tastes will leave you changed, and possibly considering having your corneas scraped. Human sexuality, all variations thereof and all sub-flavours, ALL OF THEM, are "big in Japan". And unashamedly so. (Well at least on the internet Japan.) Quote:

Squee I love bara, big masculine men doing things only possible in animation:P One quick question, is there any way to translate the text of the comic? LOVE the pics, but the text is probably pretty hot too!! |
