Looking for the right word.
A word or title for the bbing obsessed fan who tends to the needs of his bber, like getting and preparing his food, bathing and washing him, reaching parts of his body that he has become too big to reach, running all his errands so he is free to focus on working out and muscle growth, and of course help with contest preparation and putting on the bronze.

"Body man" -- Note: this term was actually used in the 19th century and before, to denote the servant who helped the lord with his dressing and shaving.

"Fag" - Note: This term was actually used at English "public" schools (E.g., Eaton, Harrow) to designate an underclassman who had to wait on an upper classman and do errands and chores for him. It had no sexual connotation, as far as I know. As in, "Tom Brown served as fag for Flashman."

"man" - as in "This is my man, Jeeves. He'll get you settled."


The problem with coming up with a good word for this function is that in this day and age the idea of body servitude is out of fashion. The person rendering the service is often seen as some sort of professional, whether it's in providing sexual services (call girl, gigolo) or massage (masseuse) or personal care (aide, orderly, private duty nurse.) There's not really a current word to denote what you are describing, except the "personal assistant" or the "Administrative assistant" in a business setting.

Hmmm. How about some variation of "groom." One definition of groom is a person who tends horses -- feeds them, exercises them, rubs them down after a ride, etc., and this has sort of the same feel to it.

So something like "muscle groom" or "body groom" or "stud groom" or "god-groom" or "growth groom"

It rather sounds as though this person will be a servant of some description, so why not go for the 19th century term "manservant"

How about "Myoprovidor": (latin-ish) meaning "muscle caretaker". Probably pronounced myo-PROV-i-dor to rhyme with cuspidor. :-s

I did come across an interesting term which kind of fits this while I was reading a mideval manga.

"Meat servant" This was a servant who's only job was to feed their master.
ie; the servant that spent hours peeling grapes and feeding them to their owner.
this has also been shortened down to just being called a "Meat".

but not many people who what a Meat servant is so it's a bit archaic and would confuse people.

But manservant or Minion (not those living twinky things more like igor) is more widely known, same with attandant.

I'm surprised no one mentioned slave or muscle-slave.
So far I like manservant best.

Awesome thread, I consider myself to be one of these people! I do not know what word I'd use to describe it though. A lot of good name suggestions here but I guess muscle servant is what I would say.

It is really interesting to me to see peoples responses because it shows who views which role as being the dominant one. The animal husbandry terms would make the muscular one submissive and the domestic service ones make the muscular one dominant. This is in the same idea as I had about coming up with terms to delineate our interests.

In my personal experience, the people who help a power-lifter get into lifting gear and wrap his knees and run and fetch and carry at the meet so he can focus and get psyched up are called "handlers." I just got back from a trip where I was "handling" for a buddy of mine, who in turn "handles" for me when I compete.

In terms of a sub, what you described wasn't necessarily on the slave side, though the thought did cross my mind of that, sub, boy, etc. But so many other better more creative options have already been given.

I will say that the mention of handler is probably one of the more professional terms. One could probably borrow from other professional terms, such as "personal assistant."

You mention liking "manservant" but if you aren't trying to be proper, you could also go "muscle servant", "bodybuilder servant," "bodybuilder butler," etc.

Along the same lines of both points above, I kind of like "attendant" myself. For me it'd really depend on context. I.e. just looking for some synonyms for a story, or seeking a catchy screenname / blogname?
