The British are coming!

And in the subject of competitions, vote for Men's Health UK October '07 cover model.

Some of the contestants:
  • Neil McTeggart--Has a small before and after pic on his blog.
  • Olly McGuffog--"Twelve years ago Olly McGuffog lay in a hospital bed with a broken neck, now the fitness fanatic could be the new cover star of a men's magazine."
  • Dominic Venton--College graduate gets ripped, yum
Who'd you guys vote for?

I'm a sucker for success stories like Olly, especially because I know someone who is currently struggling with a broken neck injury, and I can only hope that he turns out like Olly has.

I hate to say it, but who cares who wins? They're all the same. No variation, just ripped guys that aren't beefy enough. Meh.

Nice eye candy, to be sure, but just throw a dart.

Interesting point about the lack of variety in this year's "models", and while I'm sure there were bigger guys in the running, it appears that they weren't what the magazine was looking for as finalists. Now if Muscle&Fitness or Muscular Development had their own cover model contests, I'd definitely would link to those too.

And I, for one (and perhaps the only one), am interested in seeing who wins--or doesn't, like in the case of fellow Forum member NeilMcT, currently working as the magazine's Online Fitness Editor and who's gotten quite beefy himself since he joined the competition last year. (Scroll down a bit to see his entry pic on the right column.)

good standard again this year with the awards night on the 28th of aug and th winner is on the oct cover.

I dropped from 14.10 to 11'12 last year purposely trying to look skinnier for the comp then i bulked up again to 14 '10 there and have dieted down again to 13' 7 only this time i am trying to hold size whereas last year for the comp i knew they would pick the skinnier guy over the beefy guy

You may be "beefy", but CHRIST dude! You're a RIPPED "beefy"!

Honestly, looking at the contestants, you're as ripped as they are and, like, twice as big! And this is coming from a guy who's goal is to be a smaller, leaner body type. You look fantastic. Why the hell aren't you a contestant?

You'd win my vote, hands down!

Neil,
I just caught on to this thread, so I wasn't familiar with your blog. Great, great stuff.

You say you're "not that big," so let me just point out one of your entries, on self-perception.

Personally, I think you're in kick-ass shape.
