I finally got to see Li'l Abner (the 1959 version.) Abner is pretty hunky--and any guy who can sing without looking like a pansy gets my vote--but he's nothing compared to the transformed muscle hillbillies. There aren't any real transformation scenes as this is a 50's musical but the idea is still hot and vaguely gay as the transformation leaves them with no romantic aspirations although the movie lays veiled hints that the muscle men might actually be into each other.

That said, the movie isn't all that great. Aside from catchy songs, an almost unnoticable cameo by Jerry Lewis, and some gorgeous women--if you're into that sort of thing--there isn't much for this movie. The story makes no sense and is really just for cramming in as many Li'l Abner characters as possible. Earthquake MaGoon is played by a fat guy here when he should have been played by someone even better built than Abner's actor, Peter Palmer.

So the movie isn't so great but you will be singing the songs afterwards and those handsome, masculine, roid-free 50s musclemen will get your dick up. But that erection won't last; they Put 'em Back the Way they Wuz at the end.

Den!

I can't believe this thread has been around for THREE years and no one has gotten around to Heavy Metal! As in, th 1980 cartoon adaptation of various stories from the Euro-punk comix magazine.

The story "Den" could have been a straight adaptation (pun intended) of one of the stories from this site. A wimpy kid finds a glowing green meteor that takes him to a savage Conan-esque world of swords and sorcery... transforming him in the process into a gorgeous bald musclehunk. The sequence where the kid falls through space and the actual transformation happens lasts only seconds, but it definitely made a big impression on my 12-year-old self. If only Den had gone after men instead of having tons of sex with those identical busty Heavy Metal babes, it would have been perfect.

(It's also worth seeking out the source material, Richard Corben's Neverwhere stories, in which Den, unlike in the movie, is allowed to go around completely naked with his monster dong hanging out.)

There's also a bonus muscle transformation later in the movie in the "Captain Sternn" segment - this one slower and more aggro-oriented, as the nebbishy "Hanover Fiste" freaks out on a witness stand and proceeds to go full Hulk on the title character. Very hot stuff. And again, I can't believe no one has mentioned it before now.

xMuscleLoverx - That was from season 1 of Queer as Folk. Emmett was the one with the alternate hunk as his internet profile come to life. It was incredibly hot. It was also kind of this weird magical realism that I wish they'd kept going with. That series went into not so fun territory when it all became about who was on meth. I wish they'd kept a little of the fantasy elements.

Black Power (El Poder Negro)

El Poder Negro with "the Myth" Sergio Oliva in 1975 is one of the best muscle movie I ever watched. Venezuelan's production with some Mexican actors. In this Movie Sergio is a young bodybuilder trying to be a wrestler. Here are some pics from Get Big bodybuilding Forum.

In The Three Stooges Meet Hercules, a nerd muscles up via all the exercise he gets rowing on a slave ship. Not well done, but interesting concept.

That I have seen when it was screened in the UK and ticks about every box there could be. History, Comedic Redubbing (a la MST3000) and the obvious one. I would have like to have done something similar with Hercules, Samson and Ulysses (made in 1964) but couldn't find anyone who was interested.

If you're talking about sword-and-sandals, then one of my absolute favorites is "Goliath Against the Barbarians," starring Brad Harris. Brad flexes mighty biceps throughout the movie. Even when he's not flexing (but his arms are just bent), really nice biceps bulge out. He's on my top 10 list of sword-and-sandal beefcakes.

Strange that nobody here has admitted to seeing the Frankie and Annette vehicle "Muscle Beach Party" ... a truly strange and disordered bit of film, especially when the first time I saw it in high-school at the "lunch movies" the AV geeks didn't know to switch to the anamorphic lens, so it was all distorted and weird looking.
