Wii Fit

Alright, first off... I know this is quite belong in the "Bodybuilding" forum, but it is fitness and training related... So feel free to move this to a more suitable forum if sees fit.

Anyhow, just last weekend, I bought a Wii Fit for my partner as it was his 41st birthday. We've been using it for the last 4 days and it seems pretty good.

Here's what I felt about it: initially, it seems a bit gimmicky and I thought it won't work as good as weights and such. But upon a bit more study and having tried out first hand, it isn't meant to train someone from skinny figure to bodybuilder by just using Wii Fit.

The programme and the idea of the whole Wii Fit is to allow one to keep a fit and balance healthy life. The Wii Fit board is like a weight sensor that divided into 4 quadrants - front left, front right, back left and back right. When first using it, it will ask you to stand as naturally and in a relaxed posture and it will measure and find your centre of gravity. Ideally this should be as centre at the cross-axises as possible. HOWEVER, we don't always have a balance posture and this is where Wii Fit comes in.

You can do Yoga, or muscle training and some balancing games to help reposturise your body and training balances and person some small muscle groups to strengthen the unbalance part of the body.

AGAIN this is not to build muscles but strengthen the weaker muscles that normally Joe Average (or those who seldom exercise) to be able to take part and be active in the littlest way possible to stay healthy posture-wise.

I noticed with my setup, I stand slightly towards the back and towards my left, and one of the testing done - walking test - my walk largely leaning towards my right leg.

I've tried the Yoga on how to deep breathing, and balancing with one leg while doing some Yoga posture and breathing right. It's not all that hard but it's not too simple as icing on the cake, one will take a bit of time to slowly able to balance better. I'm still working on how to stay balance while doing single-leg stand with posture etc.

The muscle training is pretty alright, one can feel some sore points given certain workout. There's measuring bar to try to balance your force between legs and such, and follow the timing while doing press up and side stand etc. I think most fit and active guys won't find this too difficult though.

The balancing games and aerobics are pretty good and can be quite tricky and exhaustive too.

In short, I think it's a good set of device and programme to help people to stay a bit healthier.

I know I'm not exactly the "Governator's" size, but unless there's a weight limit to it, then I highly doubt that you're too big to use it. You simply won't be able to use it as well.

Can't you correct your posture with it?
I think that when i'm walking and/or when i'm standing, my back, shoulders and neck are not in a good position. You think this stuff can be corrected or at least this machine can show me the adequate posture?

Sounds like it would be good for the everyday layman....

But I don't see myself getting ready for Mr. Olympia with it.

I'll have to look it over one day.....
