Lifting with Sprained Ankle So I sprained my ankle about a week ago. The doctor said that I don't need to be on crutches, but I have to take it easy. I usually swim twice a week and lift weights the other three days. Its driving me crazy not to be able to exercise at all, but I understand that I have to give it a bit of a rest for a couple of weeks. Do you think, though, that if I were to focus on upper body workouts at the gym using machines that did not require me putting any weight on the ankle that that would be okay? I'm just trying to find something to keep me a little active - I've made what to me are good gains recently, and I don't want to lose them. Plus, I have all this excess energy I need an outlet for. |

Put together an upper body routine, and work abs like crazy to keep your core strong and ready for when you can go back to squatting. You probably can do leg curls, and extensions on a machine w/o affecting your ankle. |
