My turn - Thrower into Ripped Muscle Hello all. Long time lurker, first time poster. As you may have picked outr from my name, I am straight, but very much into strength, muscle, and power - preferably all together. I started as a college shot putter, quite big (6'2 295) but nowhere near ripped (like I've wanted since I read my first flex magazine - about Gary Strydom and Mike Ashley at NOC - boy does that date me huh (I'm 34) So my progress story isnt about being skinny and getting big, its about getting ripped and looking like a bodybuilder. I've got a ways to go, but have that old colege base of strength and training. Last Aug - 305lbs way out of shape July (before vacation) - 279lbs Start of Olympic Games - 285lbs End of Olympics - 275 Today - 265.5 GOal wt - I figure 220 or so is where I'll be when my abs (I know they're in there) will show. SO thats my plan. What I like about things here is that there is so much support and very little judgement. I could use a little of that. |

Hooray for muscle memory Sounds like you've been doing a fantastic job getting into shape in such a short time too. At the rate you're going, you'll probably get to unwrap your abs come Christmas. |

I can vouch for muscle memory, it's a beautiful thing! No doubt you'll reach your goals. But why now? What was the turning point that made you decide to diet and hit the iron? Lots of changes going on. First thing is that I'll be officailly old enough to compete (in track and field) as a masters. Its more inspiring to comepte then to coach. Second, my son is older, so I have more time to workout. Time really does matter. Third, my wife said if i had abs we could go from sex twice a week to daily. And I mean who doesnt want more sex???? But really, I;ve worked my way thru my excuses, and as I see progress I'm even more motivated to finally acheive my lifelong goal of abs. |

just a thought. . . . This is just an observation, but if the stats you've reported are correct and true, your wife should be wanting sex from you every day as it is! You sound thick and meaty, and that's a good, very sexy thing. If improving would make you feel better about yourself, go for it, but you sound pretty solid and buff just the way you are. Just my opinion; I could be wrong. __________________ Hulkoutlvr |

By the powers that made this universe of ours! You are one lucky sob! To marry a woman actually willing to do it often. Damn... Anyways, I hope you get an 8-pack so hard and deep, she'll never let ya leave the bedroom! __________________ In the MGS FC's I am Psycho Mantis! Thanks for the support. SOlid I may be, I do have plenty of muscle, but I also have a big hairy gut where my abs should be. The most frustrating part is watching the pounds drop and my arms and legs are getting quite hard but my gut still is about the same measurement. I know I'm wearing size 38 jeans around my natural waist so thats down 2 sizes (3 from my fattest). I know I need to be patient - but its hard. I just about flipped after my weight rose a few pounds - till I remind myself that I started going back to the gym instead of home weights - which means more muscle. I'll try to keep updated. |

Latest update - well I hit 265 then couldnt seem to stay there. Since I;'ve gone back to heavier weights at the gym (vs circuits and pushup type stuff) I am assuming that I am putting some muscle back on (I hope anyway). This morning I am down to 262.5 - not as fast as when I first started, but with the extra muscles the numbers get a little skewed. Anyway, as long as those abs come around by Christmas, I dont really care what number the scale says. |

Well yesterday I got my bench back to 300lbs. It sure feels good to watch the muscle and strnegth come back. Hel yah I feel so pumped today I could burst. Just cant wait to get back to the gym. |
