Unhappy I'm worried

I'm 16 years old and I'm going to move at the end of this year, and that means I'll have to go to another gym(that is, if my mother agrees to pay for it). The problem is that my time at the current gym is about to expire, and my mom doesn't want to pay the last 3 months because it's expensive and we'll move soon. She doesn't understand how important it is to me... and I don't want to lose in these 3 months all the strength and progress I obtained. For some reason, this makes me feel REALLY desperate, but she doesn't understand it...

I would like to know how much the costs are. In the current climate, I would say the following:

Quote:
I realise that the economy is a problem, would you like me to make a contribution to the household bills in return for you funding my gym fees?

You are not just worried you are a complete spoiled brat pussy. Get a job and pay for the gym yourself. You sound pathetic from your whining, sorry to lecture you but children like you piss me off.

I'd get a job if I weren't busy studying. Maybe I should wait until I get a job, that is not a problem, I just wanted to talk about how I felt.
And there is no need for such anger, maybe you should know me better before you jump to these conclusions.

You shouldn't let the flamers bother you, really. They just really have nothing better to do than insult others because of their low self-esteem. =) I hope that the situation works out for you, though. If you try to explain things to your mother in a very honest way maybe that would work?

Maybe you've tried that already, but I'm not sure. Mothers are weird and unpredictable. :P

Thanks. I really want to get a job and be independent, I intend to start working at the beggining of the next year.
I created this thread because, for some reason, it really bothers me that I'll stop gym.

Inflated, that was not cool and totally uncalled for. As my mother always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it."

Mhss1992, maybe you can try and turn it around...point out to your mother all the talk on the news about childhood obesity and that by allowing you to have the gym membership is a significant health benefit to you personally, as well as to her, as you run less risk of getting any ailments that would cause you to have to see the doctor, which can probably be a higher cost than the gym itself.

Another route you can try, is talk to the gym, see if you can get a job there, working the front desk or, as low as it sounds, custodial work, making sure all the machines are wiped down and disinfected, the floor is clean, the iron weights are put away properly...typically with gym employees, one of the benefits is a free membership. That is another option.

Thanks, TeknoDave. I solved the gym problem.

Ouch, now I finally noticed that I sounded really weird and awkward on my first post... because I gave it such an emotional importance. Well, it's important to me. But I suppose that most bodybuilders feel this "agony" when they have to interrupt training for some reason.

Don't fret about it...I am sure anyone here in your position would have felt the same way...it is like getting run over by the entire defensive line from a football team...you got your bells rattled a bit with the curveball your mother threw out at you. But you got through it, that is great!

As emotional as it was, it still did not give inflated the right to respond to you in the manner that he did.

Glad you found a solution. Regardless of what it is, I would volunteer to do a lot more around the house. Moving for your mother/parents will be very stressful and sprucing the house up and maintaining it so it shows nicely to prospective buyers (if you live in a house that is being sold) and helping sort through things and helping throw out those things you and your family don't need may earn you a lot of points towards a new gym. I'm sure what a handyman would charge for those services would equate to the cost of a gym membership, and even if you get nothing out of it gymwise, think how your mother will appreciate it and how much better you'll feel too!

Good! You solved the problem, and hopefully you and your mom are in agreement and accord on this. A step towards growth, in not just muscle but in maturity and mind.

And that "spoiled brat" remark made for a poster made earlier, well that was IMMATURITY, so don't even give it a thought..someone out there always ready to rain on someone's parade.

Now, just keep busting ass in the gym, and remember you can get a workout in just about anywhere....just be creative!

Peace,

D
