Ahh yes. It's a Dutch ad. Apparently it had been on air for a short time, but I never had the luck to see it here.

I love it

Really? I mean, the "skit" is vaguely amusing, on its own without any
*IN* context, though, I'm kinda trying to work out what exactly the ad is trying to say... and whether or not my gut reaction to be ticked off is misplaced or if I should listen to it.

The ad's for an INSURANCE company? And after Eve meets flaming-fairy Adam, their advice is "Just Call Us"? What, do they offer anti-gay insurance? How much can I get paid out in the event of a homosexual incident? Is that per homo, or per incident?

*puzzle*

very reminscint of this old Miller Lite commercial from around 2000. ( yes i know its been posted before because i think i was the one who posted it.. but its still good )

gymini29

what amazes me is how little a sense of humor some people, gay or straight, have with this sort of commercial. I got it from www.commercialcloset.org , and the comments about the miller commercial vary from "love it".. to "perpetuates a stereotype"

It's not that hard, really. I mean, the 'Just call us' is a bit of a mistranslation. Normally it's 'Even Apeldoorn bellen', which means as much as 'Let's call Apeldoorn', Apeldoorn being the town they're based in.

What they are showing is obviously biblical paradise, as I'm sure you've figured, and there's a male and a female of every animal and plant; life starts there and their purpose is to procreate and expand. Now Eve here runs into the single other human, a guy, and... damn, he's gay. So now what does she do?

Well, if she'd had a good insurance there may have been a way out!

(Not much anti-gay there, right?)
