Wife Swap last night.....

Did anyone catch last nights episode of Wife Swap? I caught the very end which showed one of the husbands who had huge guns. Also saw the last few minutes where is showed him standing and it looked like a big v taper to match those guns. The description of the show on abc.com says when the father isn't working, or doing hobbies with his kids he's lifting in the gym. Anyone happen to find vids of it? I couldn't find any. Families names were McIntyre and Keyser. Keyser family is the one with the muscle dad.

I found the show site with the Families "

http://abc.go.com/primetime/wifeswap...recap#t=129325

Unfortunately I only found the one group photo.
I can't get the interview to play so I don't know if there is any vid of him.

I just read through the "Meet the Wives" thing that gave little descriptions about the families. Ill agree that the guy Mark Keyser looks pretty jacked, but theres something wrong when you see stuff like:

"Its important to the Keysers that they look as successful as they feel. Mark and Andrea maintain their top dollar tans on their $3,500 tanning bed..."

Followed by:

"The kids are pushed to excel at multiple sports, because Andrea and Mark are banking on scholarships to pay for college"

Maybe if the parents wasted less money on fucking tanning beds and actually invested in a college fund for their kids, they wouldnt need to be banking on scholarships to pay for college. I realize that college is becoming rediculously expensive, but $3,500 for a FUCKING tanning bed while "the kids are pushed to excel at multiple sports" is wrong. I mean, i understand if the kids like the sport that they should by all means continue, but seriously?

Am i the only one bothered by this? I mean I'm as into muscle and looking good as anyone, but $3,500 on a tanning bed? I can think of a shitload of other things you could do with that. Who knows! Maybe a few weeks in college!

Speaker, I totally understand where you're coming from, after all, nobody needs a tanning bed in their home and there are certainly better financial priorities in life and a college fund would make more sense. However, in terms of value for the money, a $3,500 tanning bed is actually a bargain! That is only on the lower end of the price scale and for a residential model, if you will, it is the Ford Escort of tanning beds.

You know they might have gotten the tanning beds before having the kids. I've got a bunch of expensive stuff I wasted money on before realizing I should probably plan ahead for being self-sufficient and maybe getting a family, but I decided to keep it anyway since it wouldn't sell for a remotely recompensable price. I've heard that "well you've got all this stuff and you complain about money problems" line before; it's just because I assimilated the stuff before trying to live entirely by myself.

I've bought stuff in the same manor, but I'm still single and haven't fathered any kids yet either. I have had a few people ask me how I can waste my money on the stuff, all while having a cigarette hanging out of their mouths (and one also had a drinking problem too )

Yeah, I don't suspect that's any failing of yours -- that Interview page really just doesn't seem to have any actual... like... content in it. Unless perhaps their servers are protecting us from ourselves, not even returning the page elements that we're not Approved(TM) to see due to our browser choice, operating system, or goodness-knows-what-other-factor. Possible, but it "smells" more like just a common case of siteus incompletus to me.

Hulu is also no help at all, ABC only offering the same ad that the show-site main page plays, and then a bunch of presumably-previous-season(s) clips published by Lifetime.

Never underestimate the American "middle-class" parent's ability to regard their children as little long-term "investment" properties, ones which should be pushed towards financial self-sufficiency at every opportunity, so that they can get into the black (and start producing some real returns).

I was encouraged(TM) to apply for my work permit as preparation for the day I finished my first year of HS. (Gotta be 13 in NYC, to save us from Kathie Lee.) I subsequently worked full-time all summer, every summer (at real, office jobs, tho of course for $SHIT/hour), plus part time after school, come senior year. (Not saying there's anything at all unusual or wrong about that, just laying out the history.)

I also still did very well in HS and, thanks to scholarships and favorable loan eligibilities, my parents managed to find themselves almost completely off the hook for my college expenses. Which is undoubtedly a good thing, as even requiring them to pick up the tip* nearly left them starving in a freezing house with the lights off for 4 years, the way it's portrayed. (What, did it take them by surprise? They couldn't have sent me to Clown College, on what it cost them, so it's not like they were simply expecting a lower-cost option.)
* - We're talking barely $3,000/year, for each of 4 years, as their only chunk of the total $18k/year bill, for my school. Before room & board added on another $6-7k.)

Meanwhile, for my part, I had to mortgage myself into more than $40,000 in loan debt before I walked out of there with my diploma. Bloody wonderful starting-point for "adult life", in retrospect. *shrug* Was my bed to make, tho, and I fluffed the pillows. I don't deny that.

My point, though, is that this isn't even particularly uncommon. Plenty of families seem to find it a perfectly acceptable plan to not plan to pay for their children's education. At least not directly. *Sigh.* S'why they should require licensing and regulation, for producers of those "baby" contraptions.

More likely "accumulated", unless you're RPM of Borg.

Wish somebody uploads again.
About the stupidness of the family, I don't know what's strange to you about that, that's the point of the show

Seems like it, I remember seeing that they wanted to get a local family of off-roading enthusiasts involved a few years back, and could just imagine that instead of a Tread Lightly! supporting, trail clear/cleaning, actually respecting the grounds type family it would have been a drunked redneck with her husband and rug rats instead.
