He's the son of Gloria Vanderbilt, a NYC socialite from a wealthy prominent NYC family. She did dabble in fashion for a short time but it was not her career that made her famous. Money and her name did that. She had two sons that I know of, one was named Carter and the other Anderson. Carter commited suicide by jumping out the window of their 14th floor apartment house in NYC, which she had tried unsucessfully to talk him out of.

It's pretty much an unofficial fact that he's gay and just likes to keep it private. There've been tons of reports of people seeing him out and about with a man on his arm.

Good for Anderson Cooper. What a great role model for people his age or older, gay or not, to workout and display the positive results that working out will bestow upon you. Intelligent guys can be interested in putting on muscle ... and wearing clothes that show it off. TV reporters, accountants, retail clerks. They need to style more of those "muscle fit" shirts for us older guys not just for skinny Abercrombie and Fitch teen boys.

Anderson Cooper is great. Sure, I'd like to see him openly state that he's gay and proud of it, but I understand why he's more quiet about it. When he finally makes his truth known he's going to shock a whole lot of homophobes whose only idea of a gay man is Bruno.

As for the extra muscle? Yeah, that'd be great and all, but I'm happy with him as he is. And the prematurely silver hair is incredibly sexy! If only he'd take his shirt off once in a while...
