Fish oil dosage?

Well, I was in Giant the other day, and remembered that I'd been told to think of getting a fish oil supplement. There was a two-for-one deal on the store brand, so I scooped them up. Got home and looked up the actual benefits more in depth than the passing glance I'd given them before, and yowza! This is, like, a miracle supplement!

...But now I'm not sure how much to take :x I usually only use the bottle recommendations for natural supplements like this as a guide, since the needs for people who are working out are different from the needs of people who aren't, and look up the info online, but I can't get a straight answer. Anyone know?

My doctor told me to start taking fish oil about two weeks ago. He said that I did not need to take more even though I worked out. I did notice that the free samples he gave to start me out had a daily dosage of 700 mg, far more than most commercial brands.

The serving size on mine is 2 g, but I've seen as high as 14 recommended. So I honestly don't know what to do.

A researched article

See

Note the importance of EPA and DHA each of your capsules contains. These are the totals to pay attention to, not just the total oil in grams.

the most you should ever take is 2000mg a day. you can take more but it can lead to fish oil toxicity especially if you don't get natural fish oil supplements because there is more mercury in them.
