bodybuilders and good looks

Right I've noticed with the many bodybuilding images posted on this site that so many have bonerific, jaw dropping muscles and physiques that i could jack off to forever!

but

They're ugly
Why can't bodbuilders keep their youthful looks, model liek faces? I love a drop dead gorgeous model just as much as I love muscles so why not combine the two? Imagine a hot young cheekboned, dark shaggy haired model but with one huge ripped hairy body!

I wish there were more bodybuilders that looked like this morph>>

obviously without the unrealistically huge cock sadly

Also what is it with bodybuilders and shaved heads? I much prefer them to have nice shaggy or floppy hair, with a rugged face it looks so hot!

what are your thoughts guys?

My guess is the big muscles combined with the shaved head gives them the "Mr. Clean" look that some like. I don't know.

I've been around a long time and I've noticed that generally most people are ugly. And some people get old quickly. But I can't deny that when facial beauty, healthy skin, and big muscles come together I take a looong look.

Shaving ones hair can also be a means of covering up a receding hairline/balding...which can be a side-effect of taking hormones

These are all great points. It seems like many images of bodybuilders are taken when the athlete is in contest shape, which generally means having the lowest body fat percentage possible. As a result, many of these guys have gaunt faces. It is also my understanding that the dietary restrictions at that point are so severe the bodybuilder is exhausted, which will contribute to the drawn, hollow faces we all see.

This is just a theory, and I'd like to know whether I'm on the right track...

And for the rest, I suspect apart from oiling up, the culture out there isn't telling them to moisturise.

That's pretty much on the mark as well. Take a look at some of the competitor's photos and compare the contest photos with the off-season photos. There is a huge difference not only in the body and musculature, but in the face. The face tends to look fuller, and in my opinion, healthier. I have always preferred the off-sesaon massive bodybuilder look to the emaciated types onstage. Now, when you are pushing 270-280 pounds or more onstage, then you're just going to look huge...PERIOD!

I do think a lot of off-season looks are much more attractive/appealing to me as well!

Talk about shallow... I know this is a site about celebrating muscle, but still For me an ugly mug is fine if everything else can take my mind off it.

yeah he has a cute face. compare with his contest look too. not only did he shave his head (big minus in my book!) but he definitely looks gaunt. still kind of attractive, but as good looking as offseason.

Are you kidding me? Taste in guys is subjective -- whether someone is "good looking" or not depends on the eye of the viewer. I Personally, I LIKE the rugged, brutal faces of men, not pretty boys with big muscles.

My Two Cents...

I have noticed this a lot as well.

I'm not saying that a face I find unattractive ruins a nice body. However, I have noticed that a lot of (not all) bodybuilders have what most people would call an "ugly" face.

I used to have a theory of my own on this subject. I was of the opinion that these particular men possibly found themselves ugly. So, they think to themselves that if they build up their muscles, the nice bod will compensate for the less attractive face.

I know this might be true, because I often look at myself in the mirror and say, "Gee, maybe if I had a better body, I could attract myself a boyfriend. I may not be good looking, but at least I could have a decent bod."

Unfortunately, I am far too lazy to get myself into shape. So, yes, I do realize I have no one but myself to blame for what I look like, and the fact that I'm single.

Alas, this thread is not about my social problems. And with all that being said, there are a multitude of bodybuilders out that are handsome, cute, good looking, attractive, etc., etc. . Look up a bodybuilder named Danny "Hollywood" Hester some time. He's a prettyboy with one rockin' bodybuilder bod.

Well, that's my two cents.

Cioa,

L_B

Loverboy,

As very un 21st century as this is for me to say, I say that an unattractive personality ruins a beautiful body. I have known men that were so handsome and built that it nearly burns the corneas of your eyes to look at them. However, after I knew them for a while, because of being rotten human beings, they became ugly to me despite their outward appearances. I literally hated to see them coming. You'd be surprised how quickly someone can become ugly.

As for your assessment of yourself (the "out of shape" comment), I doubt very much that you are as out of shape as you claim, for we never see ourselves as others see us. I weigh 140 pounds (after a recent 40 pound loss), but due to multiple abdominal surgeries my stomach will just not tighten up. So now, I can see every bone in my ribcage, but I still have a pot belly. Such is life I suppose. But as long as we live in a society that only tends to glorify the superficial, those of us who are less than 10s will probably fall victim to the "survival of the fittest" concept in the dating pool.

Cheer up, be the best guy you can possibly be, and you will become beautiful to someone special. Remember, beauty is only skin deep, but ugly can go clear to the bone

mango is an unknown quantity at this point
Rafa is luscious!

I'm miserably shallow. Rafa makes me weak. Pretty boys in a smooth beefy body are my dream. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That is undeniable and always forgotten. This thread is for guys who are interested in Pretty boy bodybuilders. It's not a hard concept to grasp. If you can't stand "furry cartoon animals as bodybuilders" you skip those threads. If pretty boys don't move you except to complain, please don't try to take them away from us who dream of nothing else. I can empathize with a rugged, hairy man ideal (no toons) - and get off on it - but my heart belongs to Rafa and that's a line in the sand!

Mango -- this thread is called "bodybuilders and good looks" NOT "pretty boy bodybuilders." If you find "good looks" to be a smooth pretty boy with muscles, that's all well and fine -- but DON'T pretend that you have the end-all in taste, or that you're allowed to define "good looking" for me or the rest of the contributors to this thread.

I don't think bodybuilders on average are any uglier than most people. We may have higher expectations of them because they put themselves on display. Most people you see in the media are much more attractive than average, so when we see someone "normal" they register as ugly.

Look around any crowd you happen to find yourself in, and see how many of them are really attractive. Maybe ten percent, if you are lucky.

Bodybuilding publications used to feature mostly good looking men, because they were trying to market to the general public. Now that that has become hopeless, you see a much wider range of "types" represented.

I agree with Bull's assessment. Now that the magazine market has split in to the "general appeal" bbing magazines, such as Men's Health, versus the more hardcore mags, like "Flex" or "MuscleMag Int'l.", you can readily see the difference. The male fitness models are usually younger, more lithe, have great teeth, hair and skin, and are always shown smiling.

The "hardcore" mags, as often as not, show the bodybuilder grimacing, covered with sweat, looking like he's either having a hot poker shoved up his butt or working on a hernia. He doesn't look like he's enjoying what he is doing at all. Frankly, the fitness mag look is more appealing, even though I respect the hard work it takes to build a hyper-muscular body. If I were that big, I sure as H*LL wouldn't be grimacing and frowning about it! I'd be smiling and cocky about it! "Hey, look at me! I have more muscle in one arm than you have in your entire body, you pathetic wimp! Dis me all you want, but I'm built --- and YOU'RE not!'

....Course, that's what I'd be thinking...IF I were that big AND on a cover!

I wanted to post this earlier - to which I would have said: this is what I call muscular and very handsome.
He could be bigger ... he could be cuter ... for someone else

Then Mdlftr goes and writes something that makes me pause and think. Now my head hurts ... because it has a good point.

Darn you ...
