Muscle in DC Looking for where muscle guys hang out in DC area. |
| |||
Haw, I'd like to know too; I think they're hiding. |
| |||
Live in DC area, and muscled guy here. U serious about hanging out? |
| |||
Nah, they're at work, then going to the gym, then going home to eat and sleep! DC is NOT a party town, except in the sense of Elephants and Donkeys! |
| |||
I hear Dupont Circle and the urban club scene is pretty lively, but obviously I'm not really into that kinda stuff |3 |

Something else to consider housing in DC proper is extremely expensive and many people that work in DC live outside the beltway... and the commute to and from the city is a nightmare... I use to be an engineer at a US Navy R&D Lab 30-40 miles down stream of DC on the Potomac River (NSWC Dahlgren Lab) and I lived in Frederickburg. Well several times a year we would had to go to Crystal City for meetings... 40-45 miles north on I-95 and it generally took nearly 3 hours to make the trip during "rush hour". Ender |

A Paen to DC.... Quote:
True, dat! DC is EXPENSIVE and the commute is steadily moving up in the rankings as "2nd worst in the nation" [behind LA]. Having said that, let me say that for opportunities, career-wise, and variety of geography, it's hard to beat. The "world headquarters" of just about every trade and non-profit organization is here, the city is at the hub of almost all policy developments, the monuments are pretty, the fall and spring last a very long time [this winter with 20" of snow is a major aberration -- we probably won't have snow again for 5 years after this] and it's a really exciting place to be! I moved here from "up North" and don't regret it. Beaches are 90 minutes away in Ocean City, MD, or Rehobeth, DE; mountains are 45 minutes away in western MD. The city is available in both DC (urban slickness) and "Bal'mur" (Friendly homeiness: "How ya doin', hon?"). True, people here think blue and grey suits are a major fashion statement (both men and women); Everyone works at least 8-10 hours a day, then goes home to those far-flung suburbs. Two hour commutes (as far away as West Virginia!) are not uncommon. Still, overall, I think most people think that the quality of working life here (there are jobs) is good. Lots of people move somewhere else when they retire, but a lot of people move here from somewhere else. All you have to do is ask people their sports team affiliation --"..besides the Redskins or Caps or Nats". Then you find out where they are from. DC, my kind of town! Mdlftr (whose commute is "only" 45 minutes, door to door) |
