What do you do to keep the Muscle but burn the Fat? Hello everyone. I am curious to learn what the guys on this forum do to keep their muscle gains while burning their fat reserves. Like most of the guys here I am looking to grow more muscle mass (5'-9"tall and currently 192lbs) Muscle gains are no problem but I got a gut that I wish to get rid of. I understand that fat gains are part of the bulking/ cutting cycles but I am looking to not be so drastic about that kind of lifestyle, or maybe I do. Is a cutting phase the best thing to do? My diet is geared for muscle gains, so yes that adds the lbs to the gut, but what do you guys do? Less carbs? Less good fats? Keep the protein as is? After my weight training I do 20-40mins of cardio. I keep changing what I do for cardio because I bore very easily. Please give me some insight, so I may decide what I am going to do. |

Fat loss is mostly done in the kitchen. I reduce carbs, keep protein and good fats high. aim for calorie deficit of ~600 cals /day . Reduce training volume! with a calorie deficit, your recovery will be impaired. but keep the working weight high, so you give the body a reason to burn fat, not muscle. Careful with cardio; use it if you need to increase calorie deficit (which is best done with proper diet). Note its impact on your muscle/strength. Peri workout nutrition becomes even more important. if you still eat carbs, have them all before workout + some protein. drink 1-2L during workout: water+ 1 scoop Whey+ a bit or real fruit juice. That's the basics.. __________________ . My morphs can be found here: http://www.musclegrowth.org/forum/sh...ad.php?t=19127 |

I will try that then. |

Would doing longer sessions of cardio work just as good? What do you do for cardio? |

Eat more meals not a few big meals, 6 to 7 full meals a day. Also keep protein and fats fairly high and carbs fairly low you will stay lean. Once you have a substantial amount of muscle it becomes easier to keep that muscle. Make sure that your workouts are intense enough that you feel pleasantly exhausted afterwards. |

I've got the motivation. Go for it! |
