lifting again

late nov in 2006 i had knee surgery and stopped working out for 2 months
then started up again and ruptured a disc in my back during pt for my knee
i waited over a year to be able to get it fixed the docs said it was really bad and not to expect much after about a year of trying to get used to the pain from my lower back i started trying to exersise again but my back kept going out i got a new doctor last year and had my medication changed and started
exersising again in jan using back support in januray i was up to 310 at 6ft5
so i started slow and within 3 months i was almost lifting as much as i did before i joined a gym 3 weeks ago because i was getting to strong for my small weight set 200lbs max funny thing is now my back is much better and stronger i only take about 1/3 of the meds i did before and i'm down to 278
i still have really bad knees so i have to get cort shots 3 times a year but for the first time in 3 years i feel like i can finally do this again i never thought i would after the back surgery i want to eventully get back down to about 240
but at the moment i'm still putting on muscle i perfer free weights to machines
but i have to protect my lower back so i do as much as i can with free weights and do the rest with machines

Have you been to a chiropractor they work wonders for me. Make sure you see a good chiropractor who understands weight training.
