First progress thread

So here's a bit of background to my story before I get to the pictures. I've been into hiking and running my whole life, swam for 3 years in high school, and pretty much progressed through the first 26 years of my life with only cardio training. I hit up the gym every once in a while but (knowing what I know now) it probably did nothing for me.

In January (of this year) I decided to change that. I play a lot of ultimate frisbee--not just talking rec league here...I'm not pro or anything but I play pretty intensely, and with the purpose of developing lean muscle and protecting my joints from injury (27 now, I'm getting old right?) I started working with a personal trainer.

I stuck with him for about 3 months, meeting 2-3x/week, and that gave me a real solid foundation of how to train correctly in the gym and, you know, the actual muscle mass to do something with. Depending on my laziness I'll try to get around to posting about my routine and diet and all that.

I'm interested in meeting/talking with other guys in the area (upstate SC), Guys with lots of muscle are a big turn-on for me, though personally I'm not aiming to get massive (I'd be happy with "big" or "huge" maybe : ). As so many guys on this site I finally decided to stop admiring from afar and invest into my self a bit. Love it.

And the pics:

17 Apr: http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/5130/041720111.jpg (note: this is probably the most recent pic I have when I was still working with my trainer...I was keeping to my diet much more strictly then and I was much leaner. Since then I've definitely gotten stronger, but I don't think the pics are more impressive than this one)

Most recent, 6 Jul: http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/9220/070620111.jpg

In general I'm really happy with my gains, still working on my chest and shoulders, still not seeing the development I'd like. Anyway, hopefully more to come!

Well done, scboy! Your arms and shoulders are looking really good and I can definitely see improvement in the chest as well. With all of the running you do, it's good that your goal isn't to become massive as it would be extremely difficult to accomplish.

That being said, you can continue to put on quality lean muscle but you will need to be patient. Continue to monitor your progress through pics and measurements (start if you haven't previously). Try to up your food intake. Real food is better than supplements but if you feel you are eating all you can, add a supplement after a meal--so as not to replace any normal calories.

Good luck and keep us posted.
