LDS (Mormon) Same-Sex Attraction Survey

Surely I'm not the ONLY LDS person here am I?

Well, regarless, for those lurkers, here is a survey for LGBTQ LDS folks from a Psych professor from the U of U.

I was raised LDS, though I couldn't possibly describe myself as LDS now. I took the survey and am interested in the results.

Me too Helliot! Before embracing my sexuality, I was pretty much one of those Peter Priesthood types. I would have been described as very 'orthodox' (and pretty feminine too which was a drag even in the LDS church).

After my mish, I had kinda fallen off the edge of the earth so to speak in an effor to test the waters of the gay lifestyle before taking my names off the records. I was called in by my bishop and he wanted me to be in the the elder's quorum presidency. I told him that probably wasn't an appropriate place for me at that time. We talked further and he sent me to the Stake Pres as I was intent on withdrawing my records.

When I visited w/ the Stake Pres he bascially told me that I was going to need to go through a church court anyways and would be unable to withdraw my names from the records as the process had "already started."

Was excommunicated June (23rd?) 2003 after 22 years of service to the LDS faith. I did describe some frusteration in the survey.

I'm VERY glad that you chose to participate. I am unsure if this is sponsored by the church in some manner or not and I'm unsure what the motivations are in bringing this study to fruition, but I thought that relatively speaking, the survey was remarkably sensitive to many of the vocabulary and values of the LGBT population.

Well look at me, I've drifted all over the place w/ this :P
