Mike Francois Working Out 1997

I think anyone can see this one if they register at the site (which is free...)

For the young 'uns, Mike Francois was an outstanding competitor in the early-mid 90s, one of the first really big guys. At 5'8, he was up to about 290 in the offseason and competed between about 235-260 lbs. Never had much success at the Olympia, then he had some horrible GI problem that resulted in a colostomy and that ended his career.

Outstanding proportions -- massive shoulders, huge chest, big arms, killer quads, and even though at the time he was dinged for having a big midsection it was nothing like what came afterwards. Still one of my all time faves!

I guess I am so old school and think the bodybuilders of late 90's look far better than the those today. Mike Francois looks near perfect to me. Notice the leanness in Mike's face. Clearly been dieting which makes him facially look better.

Take a Jay Cutler and beside the massive roid gut, Jay's face looks like a guy that is 100 lbs over weight. His face is fully fat. For me I don't like it. I know some pro bodybuilders and have competed myself and many of the today's BB use drugs that lean the body without really that tough of a diet. While the muscles look ripped, the face does not. That me anyway.

I agree that the pros today look way too bloated. Mike Francois looks like he's in a lot better shape than Jay Cutler. I don't know for sure which of them is bigger in this comparison, but Mike's physique is far more impressive with the flat washboard abs. It looks so much more natural and shows how much work it took to get there.

The leanness definitely plays a part, but in my opinion Mike Francois is just all-around better looking than Jay Cutler.

It's funny isn't it? The way bodybuilders used to look, more healthy, hell even more virile. I'm pretty sure if you were to put a guy from now next to a guy from the 80's you are going to be surprised at who is stronger and has more endurance. Actually, I'd even go so far as to say the 90 / 80 and 70's guy would probably outlast and outcum the modern guy when it comes (lol) to that.

Could it be the kind of supplements available today? Air quality?

Mike was always my favorite but ive heard mixed things about him. i thought he was a good natured down to earth guy who once contemplated becoming a priest before he "got bit by the bug" (the bb-ing bug)

then i was told oh no quite the contrary that he was quite a dick and a real a-hole.

who knows. but i was always a fan.

i really dont care for the new look (cutler, lusekov, branch warren) they look so bloated an unhealthy. they look like they can barely move. i bet they have trouble climbing the stairs. iver heard some are so bulky they have trouble doing simple tasks like combing their hair and wiping their butt.
