BigLittleTim doing Sumo Deadlifts

Took this video a few months ago. I had just added deadlifts back into my workout after an absence of several years. My gut had gotten too big to do strict deadlifts, so I dropped them. Subsequently found that SUMO deadlifts (wide foot stance, narrow grip) target the hamstrings and glutes while allowing me to go low (ass to grass) without my gut getting in the way.

I've been leaning out, looking to lose fat while building and retaining muscle mass. My glutes have already responded nicely, from the compliments they get.

Deadlifts

Way to go, BigLittleTim!

I always appreciate guys showing alternative versions of exercises when the "regular" versions are not an option for one reason or another: injury, fatigue, whatever.

I just started doing deadlifts with my trainer and I'll admit I am very nervous about injuring my lower back. I've found I can lift much more than I thought, and I do feel it in my hamstrings, quads and entire lower torso, especially the next day! It's a good exercise, but not one that I intuitively "feel".

I'm looking forward to doing deadlifts more often. They really get the testosterone flowing! Good for growth!

Mdlftr, also Tim
