Those fake muscle growth ads

The internet always shows me those stupid fake muscle growth ads:

-One shocking trick to six-pack abs!
-Trainers hate him. New muscle growth secret.
-He benches 8000 million pounds and weighs 140!

They always use pictures that are clearly morped (and usually not that well), so I generally get annoyed when I see them. But facebook just showed me an ad using this picture of Jeff Seid, and I had to laugh. https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...33810769_n.jpg

It was like my third exaggerated example ("He benches 455 and weighs 155"). I'm sitting there rolling my eyes. Really guys? Really? Like anyone is actually dumb enough to think a) that this picture is real, and b) that these ads are anything more than spam.

Don't underestimate the lack of smarts of the average person. Whole economies and ideologies depend on it.

I see those ads all the time, especially on Yahoo, and generally do the same eye rolling. The worst are those ones that claim stupid high bench presses while weighing well below 200lbs then show somebody who would probabaly be close to 300 lbs and in some cases hyper vascular. The worst one to me though is the diet one aimed at women that shows this blonde girl in a 2 piece that has something wrapped around her waist and is constricted that part of her down to maybe 8"-10"! That one for me is just painful and off putting to look at, and I don't have anybody in my family that had that kind of eating issue either.

I always figured those were cookie tracking ads and that they were on to me (muscle wise that is). Or, considering this crowd, maybe they are and they're on to all of us.

Facebook tracks everything you do on the net so they can target you with the right adverts. The safest thing to do is, well, not use facebook! If that is not an option, then only use it by itself, and leave the web browsing after you log out.

I hate 'em too!

The really ridiculous thing about this is that, even though I KNOW none of this is true, there is still one little, tiny, credulous part of me that goes,
"Really? REALLY???!!!"

Uh, NO!

[small voice: "Waaaahhhh! Sob! Sob! Sob! Now I have to depend on hard work, youth, opportunity and skill! No FAIR! WAAAH!"]

BOGUS!

I doubt that, I see them at work and not only do I rarely log onto anything there, I don't even use those computers to look at these kinds of sites anyway.......I rarely do with my phone when out in public either.

Don't have that problem either, I have so far refused to join Facebook!

Too funny, I don't know what do they think when they make such pics.
Probably they wanna show how much fake they can make a pic.

Well Google is more notorious than anyone for tracking cookies, I think. If you have a Google account of any sort or you've searched/clicked on any number of workout articles with a picture of a buff guy, the ads are soon to follow, I've found. After cookies are cleared or turned off, I've seen things et back to the usual random assortment. And whether I'm signed in or not, I find the ads look pretty different on my home browser than, say, at the library...
