Muscle Comic Ideas

Hey guys!

I'm thinking of putting together my own little comic series, with muscle growth being a very re-occuring theme. Like the hulk comics! Only issue I dont know which idea to follow.

I have no idea how to set up a poll, but i'll give it a shot.

Idea Number 1: Fantasy A young barbarian's father, the tribe leader, has a witch or something put a curse on his body so that whenever a "hero" is needed, the son turns into a massive, hulking barbarian warrior his father always wanted as a son. The story will revolve most probably around the consequences of this spell, and the meaning of the word "hero".

Idea Number 2: Science Fiction 2 young soldier, working for the international space sector, becomes infected with a strange virus, that turns him into a massive aliend human hybrid monster when something triggers it (dont know yet). He and the ship's AI and one other person head off into space to find a cure. the story will probably be a bit more "Werewolfy" if you will.

so guys, just use the poll down below to vote, or if you have any other ideas you think i might like, post em below.

Oh! these probably won't be overly pornographic, so sex and such wont be a common thing.

I voted for number 1 sense I like fantasy a lot more than science fiction. But the concept for number 2 is really interesting too.

My one concern with the barbarian concept is that it might feel a lot like He-Man and The Masters of the Universe.

Eh, so what?

The original He-Man cartoons were originally going to be Conan the Barbarian cartoons, but the licensing fell through so they changed the heads on the models and came up with the transformation idea. (Really!)

The barbarian idea sounds fantastic. It could give a chance for much character development, while revolving around a typical fantasy. I had a similar idea, but it wasn't about barbarians per se. It revolved around the medieval times featuring animalesque people. What type of setting does your barbaric tribe exist in? Are they based off a real group of barbarians (IE: Vikings)? How about names? Maybe personalities?

I'm very interested to see what your full idea is, as if the questions weren't an indicator to that. There's so much to do with forced heroism, both dealing with character development and some fun fast-paced stuff. Even a stereotypical approach could be transformed into something unique just because of the character development. The fact you're making it into a comic makes it even more unique in the MG circle.

Hmmm... they both sound so good. I think I'm leaning towards the space idea, though. Less of the father drama (not that father drama can't be hot, but it does need a careful hand to pull off), more of the uncontrollable muscle sexiness.

Well, I did not know that. That is really cool.
Personally, I'm not complaining. Just voicing a concern. You never know when some bozo is gonna pop up and go, "Waa! Copy Right Infringement! I'm suing/telling!"
But the story concept sounds unique enough that it wont have that problem.

Why can't you do both at the same time?

I can't do more then one comic at the moment, as the effort in making a plot, sketching, inking and colouring is a lot for one person

Indeed it is. Perhaps you should post basic character ideas, like rough sketches of what they will look like. You can decide which design you like the most and go with those characters. After all, the character that you make the "best looking" is the one you like the most; whether you realize it or not. The one you like the most is the one you will enjoy working on, which makes hard tasks a lot less stressful concerning the plot/character development/etc.

I do the same thing with dress designs. It's a subconscious thing that picks the design for me. Sometimes they are both pretty nice, so I let other people decide since I am super fickleficklefickle.

I agree, my problem lies in wanting to please others, so I'm hoping that this poll this might help point me in the right direction. I already know which one I would like to do most, but let's see how things go for now.

It's like science! only... more fun! and less rigor.

(About the He-Man thing

It was in a book I read a while back, I think it may have been Cartoon ConfidentialCartoon Confidential but it was something from a local library in a town where I no longer live so I can't say for sure. As I recall, there was also something along the lines of "we already injection molded the plastic bodies for the toys" involved as well. (It's been a while since I read it.)

I was too brief and made you misunderstand. I apologize.

What I meant was this: why can't you just COMBINE the two ideas into one? They're both kinda the same thing so just push them into one story with one world. The story will be more unique that way.

I've never really thought about that, but combining sci-fi with medieval fantasy might be a possibility... I'll give it some thought, absolutely

I bet you thought I forgot about this.

Nope!

It seems Idea #1 has won, ad we shall follow the story of Jarred the whimpy barbarian as he tries to avoid conflict and danger, but it dragged kicking and screaming into it!
