People Think You're On Steriods

(Had kind of hijacked the "When Others Notice" thread so starting a new one here)

I think the general ignorance of what steroids are and what they can do lead people to suspect any muscular person is taking them. Such is the case with most banned drugs.
There was one internet post speaking out against bulky physiques and one of their reasons to avoid getting big was that people will think you're on steroids even if you aren't. I think that is their problem, not mine.
Another post referred to the cosmetic, non-sport use of steroids among young people who wanted to look buff. The author said they would rather take a pill than lift a weight- once again showing their ignorance of how steroids work.
I have decided not to worry about it- I'm not in the situation of Stronguns' poor nephew who has to deal with a coach's opinion. Good job Stronguns for supporting him.
If people look at me and judge my body by their ignorance and don't see the effort and discipline I've put into into it then I can't really worry about their opinion.

The health and fitness teacher at my college has been a constant aid through my weightlifting career, and even if there's plenty of things we disagree on in terms of nutrition, method, etc. There's definitely mutual admiration there.

That said, he's very much into research and studying etc. And he offered to buy me the stuff I'd need for a cycle if I'd like, so the both of us could track what kind of progress would be made.

I declined for now since I really want to cut my bodyfat low (It's been with me for a long time, even if I'm still on the small side, I just would feel better eliminating it) and my food budget is pretty tight. I've decided I'll cut as low as I can, do another bulk/cut session, then - depending on things, and how pleased I am with my body - take up his offer.

Was at the gym today and chatting with this HUGE competitive bodybuilder. He's our gym hero and a really nice guy but all 260 pounds of me could stand behind him and you'd never see me.

I mentioned that someone said I was on steroids, and he said that he was resting between sets when a guy walked by and said, "I want to be on whatever you're on."

He told me he wanted to reply, "Yeah... 14 years of hard work."

I was in a car accident a few years ago. Since then I had to restrict the exercises I could do with my legs. I spent this summer trying to drop some weight. Got down to a nice 245 pounds in September. Then the doctor told me I could start doing squats again.... Since then I've gained 18 pounds in 3 months of doing squats and it's been mostly muscle since I still see the veins on my abs. Muscle memory is a great thing... but for those that don't know me, the comments have all been along the lines of "so what have YOU been taking." Burns me that people think you can progress unless you take something.
