It sounds like the premise of a thousand MG stories here.

And considering it's getting cheaper to have CGI, we can almost bank on the idea there will be growth.

Meh sounds like the original Nutty Professor to me (not the Eddie Murphy remakes, the original ones from way back when.....yes Im a movie nerd ).

Considering the movie has Jeremy Sumpter is the main nerd, either this will have him transforming to a stud like Sean William Scott or just going from nerdy-outfit to cool-guy-duds. There is potential tho

While I'm usually optimistic about these things, there is one discouraging fact- Uwe Boll is attached as the director. If you don't know who he is, just Google and marvel at the man's body of work.
Odds are- given the limited budget and talent of the director- the "transformations" will involve the pretty-boy actors taking their thick glasses off, standing up straight, and speaking without stammering.
