Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen movie

Has anyone else since this movie yet? Dr. Manhattan sports far more muscle in the flick than he did in the comic... even 'lil Dr. Manhattan is bigger! Guess that's what happens when the guy who give us the leather clad bulges in 300 directs heh?

I was very impressed with the cgi overlaying the actors body, it moved, flexed and looked right - though blue. Much better than the recent Hulk imho.

Here a video of how they made him:
watchmen-video-journal-the-making-of-dr-manhattan/
which has some bits of him moving.

More Video here- love quality though:

Finally here's some pictures of our big, blue, eyecandy:

The actor who plays him is Billy Crudup, but I don't think he's the actor for Dr. Manhattan's Blue super body. Any ideas on who?

They actually used Greg Plitts body for helping with the CGI. They basically like scanned his body and the computer rendered it. Idk if it's also his glorious penis though they used too haha. You see Dr. Manhatten nude a lot in this movie with a great package I might add and most of I'd know Greg plitt is packin a big one.

The movie was over all visually stunning and just an amazing movie I would recommend seeing it asap

The cock wasn't really anything to write home about, seemed fairly normal and all, but the body was awesome. I did find it very weird for a movie to show a human character nude that much even if it was in line with the graphic novel.

Plus he had some very cool tricks he could do.

It looks like a 3D body, something is not just perfect when he moves, they got it much better than in the past, but it will take some more time to get CG human bodies perfect.
I think in a near future we will have very realistic characters done with some hybrid form of 3d + live action, or motion capture and that if used wisely wil allow films where characters like superheroes will have real muscle growth.

Mdlftr will become famous soon enough
Dr. M.

When I saw this movie, not having read the graphic novel, I was trying to get the gist of the story:

Super heroes living among regular people, with backlash from the population as the supers interact with them. Also, one "supe" goes "bad" and has to be defeated in a climatic battle with the "good" "supes"!

It's "The Incredibles!" Only much more SERIOUS and DEEEEP and Sexed UP!

..and much less entertaining, once you get past the Jerk-off aspects....

Rating: O.k., but I wouldn't buy the DVD!

Mdlftr

P.S. Dr. M. has the limpest, most flacid, most clinically represented piece of "equipment" imaginable. Patrick Wilson making out with the brunette is a much more sexually exciting part of the film! At least there are two people involved-- and they have pupils!

The "Little Orphan Annie" pupil-less eyes are a turn off. Even the members of the "Blue Man Group" in Las Vegas have eyes!

Bottom line: visually arresting film, but mixed tone: Film noir (homage to the 1940s) with some seriously violent and misogynistic scenes. [The rape by the Comedian, the prison riot, the killing of the child kidnapper.] The reimagined history, with Nixon winning the war in Vietnam, and then being elected to a third term, was interesting, in a sci-fi kind of way.

I *suppose* if you're a fan of the graphic novel, you'll be pleased/impressed by the faithful replication of the images. If you're new to this, and trying to understand /appreciate the story, it's a tough slog.

Wow harsh review and like the only bad one I have read. Idk what your talking about but I never read the graphic novel and I thought it was awesome and very well done. I had absolutely no confusion at the end and thought the story was flat out brilliant. But I guess each to his own..

I thought it was well done, and I don't carry the baggage of having read the graphic novel. I followed the plot line, but then I followed Farscape, and so many folks couldn't enjoy it for the gem that it was, sigh...

Anyways, I found the frontal nudity a bit over-the-top, okay I get it he hates clothes. One or two shots would have made the point. The CGI showed that extreme care was taken (maybe too much, somebody enjoyed their job) in making him unreal, yet real.

Visually it was a stunner, the plot had a lot going on for the average movie goer who generally doesn't expect a plot from a "Super Hero" movie.

It will go in the DVD collection for sure.

I've been reading the comic books and the story is very interesting. In the books Dr Manhattan is not the central part of the story, is one of the main parts but not the most important. I wish he was though, that's a very interesting character.
The story I would say is too post-modernistic no-more-heroes depressing sort of point of view. Also the narrative forms are very intrincate (a lot of flashbacks, meta-narrative, non-linear beginning from the middle narration) I don't know what's so wrong about linear narrative that some authors don't seem to like...
It was written in 1985 so there was a lot still to happen, they couldn't foresee that the soviet union wasn't going to be a super power anymore, hence the nuclear holocaust threat was going to disappear.

yah Dr. M had a nice physique but i really didn't want to look at his genitalia which were only 1/3 anatomically correct for 45 minutes. when i'm in the mood for that i'll go look at porn. and really, how could anybody sit through all of those mindless monlogues. honestly, i couldn't wait for the movie to be over.

All of you who went and saw the movie without reading the book ought to be ashamed of yourself. (Yes, I'm being overly dramatic but I'm also being serious . . . mostly.)

The movie was good but it couldn't pack in what made the book so brilliant. The real story is both shocking and beautiful. It shows you what superhero comics could have been (and could be) if the people making them had learned the real lesson of Watchmen which was that taking things seriously, even a little too seriously, can actually make something MORE fun, not less. Instead we just got more sex and violence. Again, the movie was good and parts of it were brilliant but most of it was more interested in showing off cool sex or violence or nastiness which, though there was plenty of it in the book, was not what made the book so great.

But, back to topic, yes. Dr. Manhattan was pretty hot and I was distracted by his schlong many times (although this was more "Dude? What's with the penis?" than "Aw, fuck, that's such a hot cock.") It was blue and radioactive anyway. That's kind of a turn off.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Morally repugnant, incredibly boring, and endless.
