Unhappy A question of Endorphins

Not sure If this should go here or on the off topic fourm but it does pertain to the ability for muscle growth.

When a guy works out and I mean works out hard endorphins are released to kill some of the pain.
Endorphins create a natural high with in the mind, much like chocolate does and makes you feel good.

But my question is, Is is possible to have endorphins but not get that good feeling after work out high?
Would it even be really called endorphins at that point?

I ask this because no matter how hard I work out I just feel like a herd of elephants ran me over, no good workout feeling.

Thanks in advance for any help!

It might be that there's just soo much pain that endorphines can cover, kinda figure that if I don't feel like I've been run over by Hannible's army after working out for 4 nights straight, I took things too easy that week.

I'm sure this won't make you feel any better Chimewolf, but you're not the only one. I never liked working out. Still don't in fact. Not only did I never get the "high" that people talk about, but working out actually often left me feeling depressed. For me, working out was like going to work everyday, a necessary evil. Until I read your post, I thought I was the only one.

Um, I'm a medical student so I do know something about this. Endorphin release can, in certain instances result in a "high" experience. Personally, I have experienced this several times after long distance running, but only once after working out in the gym. As with all things, it is important to remember that a psychological component is also relevant here. You will probably never feel "high" if the you dont enjoy your workout, irrespective of your endorphins. Your stress level and resultant cortisol level can also play a role. Certainly, you have nothing to worry about, but if getting that "high" feeling is important to you, you need to try and maintain a positive frame of mind during your entire workout.

Endorphin.. and glycemic crash

I've been working out for about 20 years. Yes.. Love the endorphin high. and if my glucose levels are low before working out. I actually leave a little buzzed, then depressed.. SO be sure to keep glycogen levels solid before and after work out. Just my 2 cents.
