Lord of the Flies muscle growth

I imagine most readers here are familiar with the book "The Lord of the Flies". I postulate a spin which would put it more in line with the interests of this community. Let's say there is a certain type of small berry growing on the island. There's only about three or four in any one place, and so there is no real point in collecting them all for food for the community, but Jack and his Hunters tend to find and eat these small berries while hunting to take the edge off their hunger.

These berries promote muscle growth to an unheard of extent and within a few weeks the dramatic effects become clear. There are now two types of boys on the island: Ralph, Piggy, Sameneric and the rest of the normal boys comprise one group, while Jack and his tall, very muscular and immensely strong Hunters make up the second group. This time Jack's takeover occurs much sooner, with most of the boys submitting to his authority out of fear of these young He-Men. From there, who knows?

So, is anyone interested in writing a story around this idea?

Very interesting and creative idea. Using a well-known work of literature as a point of departure is a nice touch.

Perhaps it's a matter of taste, but I find it hotter to imagine the Ralph/Piggy/Samaneric group finding the berries - and eventually outgrowing and dominating the previous alpha-group.

This. Plus, we already know what happens when that first group gains dominance and exerts their control over the others. It'd be far more interesting to see how the outcasts would handle their newfound hugeness (with their personalities intact, if twisted).

It seems to me that, if the berries are all over the island, ALL the boys would eat them habitually, so they would ALL become super-muscular and strong. The interesting part would come when the adult rescuers finally arrive and find themselves confronted with a group of practically-naked, insanely-muscular, superhumanly-mighty young boys who might not want to be rescued!

Anyone who wants to write a story around this concept is certainly free to have whichever group of boys he wants benefit from the berries. I did especially like your twist, LG.

I totally agree it would be much hotter to have Piggy's outcast group be the first to discover a growth secret. Give them time to establish dominance over the former alpha-types, complete with acts of physical retribution for all the insults they've ever received at the hands of bullies. Then let them force-feed their newly subservient subjects with the mystery berries, turning them into worthy companions in strength. Adults discovering an island of Lost Superboys could introduce many pleasurable plot twists, as already hinted by LG. Great concept, Adam. Now, someone run with it, and please don't spare the latent homosexuality.
