Flexing Just curious how many of you flex while lifting. I always flex when no one is around. Sometimes I'll give a quick shot in the mirror if people are there. If it's just my one buddy - I'll flex between sets all the time. Guess it's a confidence thing. |

Flexing while lifting I flex when I'm lifting. Discretely of course, since I don't want to come off like a conceited jerk. Mostly I do it to make sure my workout is hitting the muscles I want it to hit. For example, after rope press downs I'll check my tris to make sure I'm hitting them right. How visible are my horseshoes? Similarly with quads, after squats or particularly with leg extensions - are my legs looking pumped or delineated? It's a way to check how my work out's going. I'll usually flex after my workout in the locker room to see how well I hit the muscles I worked out. Like Mdliftr, every now and then I'll do it discretely after an exercise since I want to check to make sure I'm hitting the muscle correctly. |

I will 'squeeze' my muscles when i workout...however, sometimes after working out with my good friend we'll flex a little in the locker room in front of the mirror. HOWEVER, it took us about a year of working out together before we were comfortable enough with flexing in front of each other.. |

Love threads like these. Still dont have the balls to flex in the gym, but did it all the time when I worked out in my basement. Loved to pound chest with the weights and then literally pound it like a gorilla once it was nice and red with pump. Flex as hard as I could to inflate the pump more, straining the seams of my wife beater. |

I flex sometimes at the gym, and, like mattg, love getting a comment, or catching someone checking out my pumped muscle. |

Few days ago I was working long hours at the firm and it was pretty hot so I took of my dress shirt and was left with pretty tight t-shirt and while I was arranging some boxes with documents my colleague was staring at my arms and then she said that she didn't know that I was hiding that under clothes and squeezed my biceps and then I flex for her (unusual thing for me to do but I got carried away cause usually I don't know to react on compliments). At that moment I felt shy but after I felt great. |

Flexing between sets, and practicing my posing routine post workout is one of the best ways to check out what results I am achieving. |

The trainer I'm working with recommends a solid flexing session at the end of a workout as a finisher, to really pump blood into the muscle. After a good chest w/o, I'll do 30-60 seconds of most muscular flexes in the locker room afterwards, alternating longer holds of 10 seconds or more with shorter holders of 5 seconds... I know I'm doing well when the area gets all red and tight... The best part is that it feels GREAT -- and I've got an excuse: my trainer told me to do it! __________________ 6'3", 225#, growth-oriented lifter. Flexing chest IS great. I find that it helps me improve the "feel" for the muscle, AND it really helps with the striations in my middle chest! Mdlftr |

I don't know if it's that I'm getting older or more cocky, but I couldn't help it today. I was curlin and I just give a quick flex after each set. One dude said nice guns! God I love it. |

Don't know about you guys, but my dick gets hard as soon I start to flex a pumped muscle. Seems like there's a direct link from muscle to shaft...no thought required. This can, of course, prove embarassing in a gym or locker room, but works nicely in more "intimate" settings. Anyone else? By the way Wolfman...hot story about the chick at work feeling up your arm. Something so confindence-building about girls noticing our hard work and manly muscles. Almost creams me just thinking about it! |

I was a little shy at first, and yes - it is showing off. The more I did it though, the more confident i felt. It's so fukn cool - especially if you see someone take note or if they comment. |

Time to try new things. perhaps with time, if it is done with total confidence (=naturally), it gives a different energy. Certainly, as long as I'll feel it is show-off, that is what I'll be sending.. |

I don't flex or anything... Because it'd look very awkward... But the gym I go to has many guys who do it. Some of it even do it in front of the big wall-to-wall mirrors for minutes at a time. I guess that's okay, but it seems sort of strange after a while. My man also flexes, but he does it when he thinks no one is watching. He's pretty shy about showing off or flexing, for some reason. :x |
