Captain America Apparently they are making a 'Captain America' movie now, which is being directed by Joe Johnston (The Wolfman, Honey! I Shrunk the Kids, Jurassic Park III) for a 2011 release. Marvel's latest superhero movie tells the story of the young infirm man rejected from enlisting who becomes America's symbol of liberty during World War II after being injected with super soldier serum who eventually becomes a member of Marvel's superhero team the Avengers. Of course seeing as how there is "Super Soldier Serum" there might be some good muscle growth as well. So far, here are the contenders for the role: Michael Cassidy (who appeared in "Smallvile" and who tested for the Superman movie when McG was going to direct it), Patrick Flueger (one of the stars of " The 4400 " who most recently appeared in the Tobey Maguire movie " Brothers "), Scott Porter (TV's " Friday Night Lights "), Wilson Bethel (" Generation Kill ") and Mike Vogel (" Cloverfield "). Chace Crawford, is also in talks to screen test, though no deal has been made. Garret Hedlund, already starring in Disney's "Tron," was also on the list to test but has fallen off, at least for now, because of scheduling conflicts. Insiders say he may still make the testing round. Jensen Ackles is another actor who had scheduling conflicts. And so far the top contender for the role is John Krasinski who is best known for his role as 'Jim' in 'The Office' Now Marvel so far has made some stupid mistakes regarding their recent films. I'm mainly referring to the decision to re-vamp the Spider-Man series since Sam Raimi (Director of the first three films) dropped Spider-Man 4, and the rest of the cast refuse to continue without him. (The Re-vamp is supposed to focus on Spider-Man in high school, which is pointless seeing as how the first film covered that as well, and the role of Peter Parker is apparently going to be played by Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief) So I have a feeling they aren't going to pick a great actor to play Captain America. But once whoever they pick and put through Hollywood Boot-camp and give their "Special Muscle Serum" (as seen with Zac Efron) maybe it will work out? Ryan Reynolds is looking promising as The Green Lantern. What are your thoughts and suggestions for who should play Captain America? __________________ Some men just want to watch the world burn. |

Cap Casting Whoever they choose for the role should definitely have the talent (read: acting chops) and the "talent" (read: muscles) for the role. Remember, Cap is a man who is at the highest possible point, in terms of human physical development, without venturing into the realm of the superhuman. A natural blond is a plus, though not necessary. Maybe Gerard "Leonidas from '300'" Butler or Viggo "Aragorn from 'Lord of the Rings'" Mortenson. I'd even consider Hugh "Wolverine" Jackman, mostly because he's done a Marvel comic-turned-movie before. __________________ Rule 34: If it exists, there's porn of it. If not, it will be made. Rumors also throw Robert Buckley in the mix. Dunno if they're true, but he certainly looks the part. |

He would be a good candidate. __________________ Some men just want to watch the world burn. |

I am looking at each of these guys, and I am thinking: "Which one looks the most like Captain America?" Then I realized what I was really wondering is which would look best after the serum... I think we need to have our own screening. |
| |||
You know, that's probably the best idea. However, I vote we go a step further and volunteer our selves for the Serum and audition. ^_~ __________________ Some men just want to watch the world burn. |

Sony's decision to revamp Spider-man. Marvel doesn't really have a say since they sold it to them for a certain amount of time. It's the same set up with Warner Bros with Superman and the family. All I know is that whoever plays Capt. Better be god damn good at it, and good looking to boot. __________________ Play nice people. |

It will be interesting to see how this Capt. America project goes... Quote:
The story is about a teenage wimp, with secret powers. He's misunderstood, smart, nerdy, strong, loses the girl, gets the girl and webswings all at the same time! What's not to like? It will be interesting to see if they can make Capt. America as widely popular! The Spiderman movie franchise had really good actors (Toby McGuire, James Franco, Rosemarie Harris, etc.) making it believable. The Spidey comic books always had a sort of rebel, tongue-in-cheek approach which has now become the norm in superhero comic books. All the other heroes were always so SERIOUS - Batman, Superman, Hulk. No self-deprecating remarks to be made by those guys! Spiderman presented himself as the ironic, post-modern, anti-hero {"your friendly neighborhood Spiderman"} and as a slam against late 1960s consumerist culture. [Can you guess I was an American Studies major in college?] To my way of thinking, Capt. America has never had the popularity or the wide appeal of Spiderman. He was not featured in the comic books nearly as much as Spiderman. I think they have an uphill battle, but a good script and good casting can do wonders. Here's wishing them much success! Mdlftr |

Just my two cents worth... James Ellis should be the new Captain America! |

Marvel intends to bring all the movie production into its own studio - easier now that it's part of Disney and has a big, film-centric parent to back it up - when the existing licenses run out. Unfortunately it looks like that's going to be too late to keep Sony from screwing up on Spider-Man. |

I don't like the style of guys they're choosing, they look too young, I think captain america must look like a mature 30 year old rugged guy, very manly sort of like russian actor mikhail porechenkov Also american actors Patrick Warburton or Robert Gant __________________ Fuertesyrobustos.com - Crecimiento muscular en espa?ol |

And that voice is just commanding. He's be a great Captain America. __________________ Some men just want to watch the world burn. |

I've heard that, Scott Herman, from MTV's Real World: Brooklyn, has shown interest in that role. When I think about it, he even looks like Captain America...might be a good fit. See him at Scott Herman Fitness site. |
| |||
Scott is a bit on the short side for the role. Plus, he probably wouldn't like all the costume changes! |
| |||
hahaha he's hot, funny, and looks good in costume. Who cares if that dude's a little smaller? I vote for him xD |
| |||
Yeah, I had seen that video before. I'm subscribed to Scott's channel on Youtube. He probably is a little small for that role. Kinda sad , cause he has always loved the character, obviously enough to have a custom made costume. You'll notice a drawing of Captain American in his room also. He once talked about the upcoming movie and how he'd love to play that part. |
| |||
Well he can always play as Bucky Barnes' version of 'Captain America' than Steve Rogers'. Afterall, someone has to take over the role for this WWII veteran. |
| |||
I don't know...the voice is the problem. Yeah, it's a great voice, but it's the voice of Puddy. And The Tick. And a lot of animation voiceover. His voice is more associated with comedy than action. |

Humor with the voice association..... Quote:
Part of what makes the 1960s "Batman" tv series so popular is the completely-dead-serious-delivery with which Adam West presented his lines. The underlying humor came through and made the cartoon mayhem ("Biff!" "Sock!" "Ka-POW!"] that much funnier. Making something too serious could greatly diminish the appeal. Make it funny (think "George of the Jungle" and his riff on the "Tarzan" legend) and people could get a whole new appreciation for the story. After all, a story about a blatantly steroid-using superhero might not go over so well in this day and age of health consciousness. Look how mixed the reactions were to the recent "Watchman" film over the character of some of the so-called heroes - the female abusing guy in the yellow costume who got (deservedly) thrown out a window. Not funny. Not appealing. No mass market appeal. Won't sell too many action figures with that storyline. Mdlftr |
