Porbably a dumb question

So I always see people using the tricep pulldown ropes, but they are kneelings and it looks like they are kind of doing crunches...what are they working exactly?

For some reason I seen a few people doing that as well... seems that the focus shifts from the triceps to the upper back. I could be mistaken on that, But I really don't want to be in that position doing that type of exercise. Just doesn't seem natural.

haha! No no boys. Its ab crunches. Holding the weight with the rope and pulling your body down into a crunch with the resistance of that weight your holding with the rope gives your abs a real good burn. abs should be trained just like any other muscle group.

Depends on where the focus is..I do a crunch like that with the rope pulling in to focus on the back/serratus muscles. Keeping your elbows in and move them first down to the ground, then into your body, then arch your back like a cat to hit the serratus hard. Pretty fun exercise..can't find a youtube vid or anything about it, but my personal trainer taught it to me a while back.
