It's like the beginning of Snoopy's neverending novel, "It was a dark and stormy night....."

Which of course is the line the manicurist opens up with retelling the story of how Mr Steven Haines met Crystal Allen to Mrs Steven Haines in the gay, camp classic The Women.

Will sighed because he knew he could never put in the time and effort needed to grow big muscles, even if his phisiology would allow it. He sighed again. Then he thought, "If I can't have big muscles, maybe I can look like I have big muscles".

Okay, as probably one of the old geezers on this board, I usually pride myself on getting the more obscure (read, anything before 1980) cultural references on this board.

You sir, have me stumped.

One of my favorite scenes in the movie. The manicurist doesn't know she's doing Mrs Steve Haines' nails so she's just mechanically repeating the latest gossip at the salon. The scene includes one of my favorite lines: ". . . his eyes went up and down me like a searchlight, I remember it well . . ." all in a thick Brooklyn, working class accent

Yes, I saw this movie! A million years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth! Isn't "Mrs. Steven Haines" Norma Shearer? Of "Marie Antoinette" fame? This movie must be from the late 1930s - early 1940s!

Great dialogue! Rosalind Russell is in this and she is a complete B*tch!

I know that this post was intended as a rolepay (wrong section but hey we all mispost every now and then)

But, it reminded me of a family guy moment...

" Oh I know it hurts now, but look at the bright side: you have some new material for that novel you've been writing. You know...the novel you've been workin' on? You know the the one, uh, you've been workin on for three years? You know the novel. Got somethin' new to write about now. You know? Maybe a, maybe a main character gets into a relationship and suffers a little heartbreak? Somethin' like what... what you've just been through? Draw from real life experience? Little, little heartbreak? You know? Work it into the story? Make the characters a little more three dimensional? Little, uh, richer experience for the reader? Make those second hundred pages really keep the reader guessing what's going to happen? Some twists and turns? A little epilogue? Everybody learns that the hero's journey isn't always a happy one? Oh, I look forward to reading it. "

- Stewie to Brian from "Family Guy"

Had to... sorry

"Suddenly, he farted. His world was never the same. He should never have left his home on Paradise Island, where he frolicked with young naked men. Now all his life had become was farts and more farts. The more he farted, the lazier he became. He was so lazy, he couldn't even think of a few more sentences describing the pleasure of cumming and building muscle. He thought of the sled he loved as a child, and dropped over, farting so loudly he killed the palm trees standing nearby."

"Gym bud," he whispered, to curious onlookers holding their noses and waving their hands in disgust.
