Final Fantasy XIV: ARR

Just curious if there are any other gaymers out there who will be playing this "semi"-new MMO. I was a long time player of FFXI, and tried FFXIV when it originally came out, and was immediately turned off. I guess I wasn't alone, since it was so bad Square Enix canned the lead developer, and brought someone new on to reinvent FFXIV. And let me tell you, I am now throughly impressed. Just got to play in round 2 of the beta weekend, and it was a lot of fun! I can't wait for the release August 27th!

Question: Can you make a shirtless avatar without going armorless? I know nothing about how the armor system in the game works but my hope is that it operates like classic Final Fantasy and doesn't associate the armor worn with what the character looks like. If my MMO heroes aren't shirtless hunks, I don't feel that special connection!

There are some armour outfits that look skimpy (i had one) but its stats aren't that great, it got replaced with better rated armour for my class (GLD).

If you're ableto get on Behemoth, look for "Sibeusky Rum".

Haha too funny, I was playing on Behemoth myself! Looks like Behemoth it is! I never purchased the original version of FFXIV, so I don't have any characters to play the on the legacy server I look forward to seeing you guys in game!

They're going to do an open beta within the next few weeks (most likely late-july or early august), and apparently characters made during the open beta will carry over to release (assuming there are no major bugs. I also don't know if exp and items will carry over, or if you're still reset to lvl 1?)

I was thinking though, I'll keep a character roster list at the top so we can find/add each other in-game!

Aww, I'm assuming Balmung is one of the legacy servers? Just out of curiosity, can non-legacy players even join legacy servers? But if you want to start a new character, you know where to go

Either way should at least try and do something for the upcoming beta phase. I didn't get to try dungeons last round.

Yes Balmung is a Legacy server and yes new characters can be made on Legacy Servers, I'll be making a new character on it(my 1.0 char was only level 18 gladiator so I don't really care for him... just his gil lol).

I think the dungeons can only be unlocked through storyline, at level 15 whatever city you start in, they give you an airship pass and send you to the other cities, and eventually each city will give you a quest to go through their respective level 15 dungeons (Gridania : Tam-Tara Deepcroft , Limsa Lominsa : Sastasha , Ul'dah : Copperbell Mines) which unlocks them(in the Duty Finder too I'm guessing) which I like. Makes you actually visit them instead of camping in a city and queuing up like WoW.

Vallance's Kainx Rip is Marauder which could be a better tank? I'll do my beat to be a worthy enough tank if required.

I got my marauder to lvl 15 and I still hadn't gotten the airship pass or intro to dungeons... Maybe I just didn't go enough into the story line quests... I really wanted to get the airship though so I could travel somewhere else to use another class, lol. I tried running from Limsa Lominsa to Ul'Dah, and I ended up in some level 40 zone, and I just gave up and figured I'd wait for unlocking the airship, hahaha.

We should try and figure out something though so we can all play together post-launch. kezzz, what were your plans for which server you were going to join when the game launches?

Do story quests, it'll eventually happen.
