The Stevenson Brothers

This story will be the result of the Story Idea Bigger Brother. I took the suggestions in the thread and adapted them to become the story of Matt, Mark and Mike Stevenson: characters in the Andrew Story.
Matt is the big brother, who was the firstborn son of Martin Stevenson, soon after Martin married Lt. Mitchell's sister. If Matt is 18 in 1998 (See Chapter 8 of the Andrew Prequels) then he was born in 1980.
Mark was born in 1986, when Matt was 8. Mike was born a year later, on Thanksgiving Weekend of 1987.
When Mark and Mike got to Kindergarden, a year apart, Matt took on the role of the Big Brother, walking them to school and protecting them from all the bullies. You see, Matt was always big for his age, taking after his mother's side of the family. By then, Lt. Mitchell was a Major in the Canadian Army and he taught Matt how to work out, since Matt was 13 in the fall of 1993 and entering puberty.
In Thanksgiving Weekend of 1993, Martin's wife gets killed in a car accident, on the day of Mike's 6th birthday, and the day before Mark's 7th birthday. Martin realizes that Matt has to take on the role of the Big Brother more than ever now and Matt gladly accepts, becoming the 2nd man of the house.
Even when Matt is in High School a couple of years later, he still walks his younger brother to school and then he joins the Reserves when he's 16, so he can honour his mother's memory by serving just like members of her family (like her brother, who's a Lt. Colonel by now) do. Matt gets much bigger and stronger after the Canadian Forces get ahold of him, packing on 100 pounds of muscle to reach 350 pounds by the time Andrew meets him in the summer of 1998.
That is the idea I have for the story, which will also detail Mark's transformation into a jock under Andrew's guidance, and Mike's point of view of all the family events.
MY question is: What point should I begin the story? How old should Matt be in Chapter 1?

Matt's workouts helped him pack on lots of muscle and he reached 200 pounds by the time he was in Grade 8. He only had one more year in Elementary School with his younger brothers

Sorry to have to get a few things straightened out. But when someone is born in 1980 they are only six years old in 1986. I often hate to hear people say this but.
Come on people do the math.
Eight years old would make Matt alive in 1988.
Back to the right math when 1993 rolls around.

Not sure about the math thing, MAtt was 7 years older than Mark in 1993, and 8 years older than Mike in 1993.
The other reply: Should I start the story with MATT being 14, and Mark being 7 and Mike being 6?
