| In addition to the above, did my usual new-posters sweep for the period from 2011-11-20 to today. SHITTY month. Of the 27 remaining new posting accounts, I deleted most of them, and left more than a couple that were posting on-topic content with offsite commercial links in their .sigs. (I swear, it looked like a fucking #810 thesis defense out there.) Because historically they won't be back again anyway, it is legit on-topic participation, and I trust all-y'all to be grown ups who know not to click on their links. But, I swear, cut through all the bullshit and the number of actual new members for the past month drops down to... like... 2 or 3!! *sigh*     |

| I've been away from the site for around 5 weeks, as it turns out, so cleanup just completed for the period from 2011-12-17 to today. | It's that time again! (Actually, way past it ? I honestly thought I'd done a late-February cleanup run, but it doesn't look that way!) Of 58 new posting members since 2012-01-26: [COLOR="Red"]TWENTY-FIVE[/COLOR] were banned as spammers. (...Bleah!) Most all of the spam, once again, was of the multicolored-text (well, multi-gray), pharmaceutical-pushing variety. (I found the one titled "illegal ritalin" especially perplexing. Because, yeah... that seems trustworthy!) Another noteworthy observation: Of the 25 banned spammers, NINETEEN were from the same two IP addresses! So, yeah, they will keep hammering on the site, and it'll keep the spam load down the quicker we get 'em banned and IP-blocked after they start buzzing around. |
