Dublin man shot five times but survives

The man happened to be a champion amateur bodybuilder. He was attacked while sitting in his car and shot 5 times in the arm, leg and chest.

The article says he "managed to walk over to the ambulance that was called to the scene and climbed into it. His condition in hospital is being described as stable."

Though a vest saved him a fatal hit, he still took many others and there's little doubt his muscular physique played a role in his survival.

Bodybuilder Sean Enright has made a miraculous recovery after being shot six times, including three times in the chest, outside his girlfriend's home in Clonsilla, west Dublin, at 9pm on January 27 last.

It is understood that the fitness fanatic survived the attempted murder bid because he was wearing a bullet proof vest and his muscular physique is said to have aided his recovery.

Last night, Mr Enright was competing in the finals of the National Amateur Bodybuilders Association's Mr Ireland event. Sources say that the garda investigation into the shooting is "active" but nine months later, no one has been arrested.

It is understood the main focus of the investigation is that Mr Enright was victim of an extortion attack by a dissident criminal gang trying to extract money from business people.
