Benched my own weight today! 265 lbs for 6 reps. Woo-hoo!!

A milestone reached. And hopefully soon surpassed as long as I don't do anything stupid and injure myself again.

He showed up at gym today amazing to see the other big guys who workout at the gym stare at this guy or try not to stare at this guy.

Another milestone

Did 3 sets of 6 reps in standing curls with 90 lbs on the bar. Finally did curls with the big 45 lb. plates- never been able to do that before.
Next bicep workout goal: 3 sets of 8+ reps

Had a fantastic "Holy shit!" moment this week after my back workout. I put on my winter coat coming out of the gym...it has been getting too tight and when I tried to shrug into the sleeves, the seams popped!

I'm not letting the cost of repairing it harsh the buzz of pride I got from that.

Just had a great "oh shit" moment for me. I been flexing and posing a little in my bathroom mirror, just to see how big I'm slowly getting. Anyway, I did a bicep flex and spotted the tale-tell sign of definition to my arms. Finally seeing that fine line that divides bicep from the triceps. Does make the peak stand out alot more.

Just finished some bench presses yesterday and this guy comes in and gets on the bench next to me. He puts 400 pounds on the bar. With his buddy spotting him he manages 1 rep. I smiled at him and said "not bad!" With this cocky attitude he looks at me and says, $50.00 says you can't press that! What did I do? Was just being nice. I shrugged my shoulders and stood up to walk away. As I start to walk away he says to his buddy loud enough so me and at least half the gym could hear him... didn't think he could and they laughed.

People who do that kind of thing really burn me up, so I turned and looked at him and said, OK, make that $100.00 and you have a deal. He sneered and said fine, still maintaining that smart-assed attitude. Remember, we have witnesses so don't even think about not paying up. OK, Ok, you better have the money too, he said. So just before I sat down I added 2 35 pound plates. His smile quickly changed to an "oh crap" expression. I got under the bar, looked at him and said, want to double that bet? No he whispered, knowing he had already lost $100.00.... So I proceeded to do 4 reps with the 470. Looked at him and said, that was a nice warm up. I can lift more if you want. No he said, you made your point... Easiest 100 bucks I ever earned.

Last year I was constantly jumping between bulking and cutting. being a relative beginner, I was constantly noticing that as I cut and dropped my weight, my calories were getting to low to be bareable, so I'd bulk up until my calories were back to a respectable number. One day, during my bulk, I finished up my Upper day, and quickly flexed in the mirror. What I saw shocked me to no end. A vein. One thick vein running from my inner bicep down my forearm to my wrist. I swear I probably would have shot a load right then and there. When I started my cut, that same vein would show even without a pump.

Sadly, over my "hibernation" from the gym, I lost that vein, but my biggest goal during my current cut is to see that vein pop up again, as well as get more of them visible.

To-day was the best day of my life since getting back in the gym. I finally have gotten my deadlift back to 225 lbs. Not impressive compared to others, I know, but for me it's a sign that I'm finally back on track.

By Thursday, my other lifts should be back to one plate, then I'll be ready to bring them up to my body weight and beyond.

I came across an old v-neck shirt I hadn't seen in awhile, one that I thought I'd lost actually, and wore it for the first time after my workout today. It used to be pretty baggy on me, but when I put it on today, it was quite snug, albeit from my pump...but still!

I wore a t-shirt that had a Batman logo printed across the chest to the gym today, and I noticed while I was on the pec deck, everytime I squeezed out a rep, "Batman" became "Ban" -- half the letters were disappearing between my pecs!

Went to my best friend family house for his birthday and have a year since to find out that one of his cousins have transformed.
The kid went from like a 5.10 o 6.3 and from like 120lbs to 220lbs.
He still had the same girlfriend which I blame for this transformation.
He still same shy guy, but like to show off his new strength carrying pile of chairs and heavy tables himself.
Adorable

So, there's a line in one of Absman's stories (My Jock Memories) that always stuck with me where the protagonist talks about his "big junky arms"....I don't know why that phrase sticks with me...what does "junky" mean, anyway? But in my head, those arms are huge, cut, maybe not "sculpted" but more like rough-hewn stone, the arms you get from hauling cinder blocks. When I think about what I want my arms to look like, it's that line, "big junky arms".

Anyway, I wore a sleeveless shirt to the gym for arm day yesterday, and for the first time I felt like I'm on my way to getting there. I have definition between my front delts, the biceps, the triceps, I've got a nice thick vein that runs from my shoulder down all the way to my wrist when my arms are pumped, and best of all, the reverse grip curls I've been doing have started to get my arms to look big even when they're relaxed at my sides.

One of my goals for 2013 is to get 17" arms (I've never been bigger than 16.5 flexed)...I haven't measured, but I think I might reach my goal 5-6 months early.

Anyone else notice that your shadow magnifies your muscles spectacularly?

Standing in front of a lamp, I noticed that the shadow on the wall was intimidatingly large, then that the shadow was mine. I cannot wait to be as big as that shadow.

I agree Jaekel, I love seeing that. I'm still pretty much at the start of my transformation journey, but I love that you can see my delts and traps make me look more powerful, and a very slight v-taper......can't wait to get properly big!

When You Bump Into Things...

I just realized that when I'm moving down a crowded hallway or going through a doorjamb and I bump into things...

I'm usually not hitting them with my shoulder or my hip.

I'm grazing things with my triceps...

That's kinda' cool.

LOL, I was grazing things with my shoulders for a couple of months after finishing a shoulder spec period. It was very cool. new shoulder size also means my sleeves were pulled a bit more up, so my arms are a bit more exposed. all good

Odds and ends

Yesterday at the beach a family of 5 settles besides me.
Two ectomorphs parents have three kids
One ectomorph girl, around 15, beautiful and skinny
and two MESOMORPHS boys, one like 16 built boy but not trained.
But what called the most my attention was the kid of 12 yo.
His muscles where totally visible and defined like a minibodybuilder.
Round shoulders, six pack, squared separated chest, tear drop in leg and what was most amazing to me his build back and the horseshoe in the tricep, could not believe his development for just a kid.
His face was handsome so when grow up this is going to be a stallion.

i dont think i've posted here before so wanted to throw in my "When I Notice" because of how recent the events were:

my university (FIU Modesto Maidique) is currently under construction by a major urban development firm (new classroom buildings, new plazas, etc), so we have construction workers everywhere on campus nowadays.

over the past ~3 weeks, the same incident happened twice, with two different sets of Black Construction Worker Good Ol' Boys:

me (wearing my usual gym outfit, walking on campus)

Black Construction Workers (seeing me across the way) "YO HOMIE!"

me: "wsup dudes?"

Black Guys: "yo, what position you play?"

me (confused at first) "sup?")

Black Guys: "on the football team. what position you play?"

the fact that this happened twice, with two different sets of construction workers, on two different parts of campus, was awesome. i'm big enough and athletic enough to look like a collegiate level football player!

I'm 6' x 195lbs and have fairly broad shoulders. As a kid, the bone structure across the top of my shoulders was always very wide, but it was "unsupported" by my lats, and my shoulderblades always looked "folded in", like the way a bird tucks its wings across its back.

Upon graduating from college I weighed ~140 (but tried not to weigh myself) and when I stretched out my arms in front only then would the blades would lie flat.

After many years of training, and rowing and pullup motions, my arms now hang straight from their sockets, cantilevered far out over my lats and beyond my waist. And a little bit of extra push from my side delts. I like that and don't need to get to the "elbows pushed out" look.

But the reason for this post is that after getting serious about adding a bit of extra size is that each of my crew-neck undershirts and all my workout tees (if at all tight) are all starting to wear out in exactly the same place: Just below the armpit, right where my lats would be at their widest, like the shirts weren't built for the stretching and outward push there.

When my brother's tees wear out, it is across the top of his back--where the top of the bones rub :-)

I've also noticed that my v-neck shirts don't wear out there (instead, the collars get ratty), I presume this is because the V collar can spread and act as a relief valve. But my crew necks are shown no such mercy ;-)

Beach flexing and muscle gain

Great job on the muscle gain! I'll bet your friends at the beach were totally impressed when you flexed. About filling the sleeves on your shirts, just remove the sleeves and go sleeveless so they all see your muscles! Sounds like you are now definitely sleeveless material!

My neighbor came up to me today and said, "did you pick up the front of your lawn tractor and move it this morning?"
"Yep," I said, "stupid mailman is making ruts in my lawn by the road and I got stuck in one. I had to move my mower to get out of it."
"Well, if I get stuck, I know who call," he said.
"Anytime," I offered.

While this isn't a huge tractor (about 400 lbs- http://www.tractordata.com/lawn-trac...re-1542hs.html ) it IS nice to know I can solve the problem myself.

Now about that mailman...

Another shirt bites the dust

Another great workout this morning..... Hit the shower and I cheated a little today with an older work shirt I knew was tight last winter ...

Anyway managed to get the shirt on and other cloths... Just before I put my jumper over the top I did a most muscular and the two buttons over my pecs popped off.... What a buzz my jumber is on now and I can feel the shirt stretching over my biceps and shoulder .....

Grow lads till you fill those shirts

I thought I had an accurate self image, but yesterday I had a random opportunity to see myself in a mirror when I didn't "know" it was me (new shirt). I was among other people, and being able to see myself in relation to them made me realize just how wide and thick I am.

Also, THIS picture got me all 'wow' on that guy's pecs, until I realized that mine are thicker. Body image is a strange thing.

You aren't kidding. Even looking at myself in the mirror sometimes I still imagine I see the 60lbs heavier (fat-wise) version of myself. Those moments where you catch a reflection without knowing it's you add some much-needed perspective for sure.

I've started playing hockey again once a week, and the pump I get after I play is really fantastic. Is pretty informal stuff, but there are usually only 6 or 7 guys per side, so shifts are sometimes 20+ min long. My legs have always been my strongest area, but it's just cool to see that sweeping bulge of muscle from my quads like you see with serious bodybuilders like.

When I saw them when I got home tonight, I thought, hey my legs looks almost Burlemax-esque! =)

Nothing major, but I've been hitting my shoulders a bit more than usual and I've noticed that I've been bumping into a hell of a lot more people and things: door frames, other people, bookshelves. Simply put, I've been handing out a lot of, "Sorry, excuse me"'s lately.

Couple of recent events.

1. I am back lifting hard after a couple months off due to a shoulder injury from a minor car accident. I must be putting some size back on because a couple of the big guys stopped and started chatting about working out. Definitely noticed I was being checked out.

2. Pulled out all of the summer clothes and realized that a bunch of shirts no longer fit. This was especially true of the short sleeve button down shirts that I could barely get my arms in. So went shopping and the only size in that style that the arms would fit were XXXL. Guess that I stuck with Polo's and Tee's now.

:)

like a lot of guys have said cloths really show how much you have grown.
4 months ago i was about 130 now hitting 147 at 5ft3

Really feeling the size a lot of my old stuff is getting to small for me now some of my favourite shirts are too tight to wear the buttons would just pop off because of my chest and lats and the pressure there putting on it

My underwear keep riding up on my quads and chafing as i walk haha everything is amplified when your short and you put on mass but its very Fulfilling

got pics as well of how much i have grown on my watch me grow thread

not letting these things stop me though just going to keep growing !!!
