Hey bois, just a brief update.
I took some time off just to sort out some issues at home...
And do some housecleaning...
No job yet, but that will come..
Meanwhile I'm eating right and heading back to the gym tommorrow.
I'll update everyone soon.
G.

Update on Saturday's workout. I got nicely pumped and felt great.
I'm putting together a new bulking workout schedule, plus changing my diet even more... So hope to have new pics done this week, or at least once I can pump myself up heheh.

It seems my life is out to mock me.
I'm currently battling a minor cold, which has invaded my upper sinus...
and has rendered me unable to operate at peak efficiency...
Which means my workout I tried to do last week just about killed me.
Even though I ate right, and felt ready...
My body went, bah, you idiot, I'm trying to help you recover.
Moron.

The plus side is my arms grew half an inch from that workout...

Will post more soon.
And pictures once I've gotten better.

Hi CanadianGordon,

When I'm feeling sick, I either do a light workout, just cardio, or no workout at all. I have found over time that when my body is trying to tell me something, I'm the one who suffers if I don't listen

When I'm feeling like a sicky, I try to get a bit more sleep, lighten or forgo the workout, and try to be at peace with it. Don't beat yourself up--we all get sick.

Yeah I'd like to be at peace with it, but I've had so many set backs already, it's starting to get to me...
Those hard earned gains I'll have to work twice as hard to get back..
At least my muscles are getting harder....
Even if I want them to grow...

I should be well by Wednesday.

there is DEFINITELY nothing more frustrating than getting sick at a time like that..

I think we've all been there, me definitely included... but every time I've tried to push through it I've regretted it with even MORE downtime in the end.

Rest up!

Gordon, you get set-backs, but you have to accept them, and just get back into it as soon as you can. Good luck!

Well just medicate yourself properly and you'll feel better soon..
Of course you could have that cold that has been going around, like I did, and be in for a week and a half of feeling too crappy to do anything.

not so far... just sore throat, stuffiness... and a sort of general light-headedness feeling. I might postpone my workout tomorrow for a day or two... but I hope it doesn't mean any longer than that.

Thanks!

Hmm, I've made a decision about my gym.
I am not renewing my membership with them.
Not only have they not done anything to keep me there, but the transportation is too long...
So now I have to find a new gym...
As well as a new job...

If it helps any, I'm floating in the same boat as you are. After months of working my @$$ off on my house, it's about ready to move into. Problem is, it's all the way hell and gone from my old gym. (Not that I've been going lately, because of supreme lack of fundage ie- have hot water and lights or have a gym pass). But now that life is sort of getting back on track..or at least a trail of some sort, it's time to start again.

Of course it works, it was on the Oprah show! What more proof do you need? However, it only works if you take it at the on-set of symptoms.

The main thing for me right now is to find a job so I can afford to keep working out. I've been good and haven't used the protien or creatine powder, unless I'm doing a very physical activity.

That stuff's expensive... Even though I got it from a discount place.

I hear you.

I've been broke, and I'm very judicious with the whey & creatine. I just got a new job today, and Rob & I are moving into a house with a roommate on August 1st. Combine that with recently changing health clubs, and my whole life is suddenly changing (except out cars, so far...) So I definately have empathy for the change in your own life.

You know they say, break a leg in theatre?

I broke a tooth.
While brushing my teeth!
Go fig.

It's a small corner of one of my front teeth that was worked on in 1999 by my old dentist... So it's a minor repair. But it's till irritating as hell..
Not too noticeable, just cosmetic.
Of course I have an audition Wednesday for Little Shop of Horrors.
I'm auditioning for Seymour.

You're gonna be one buff Seymour Krelborn, G.

LSOH is one of my favorite movies, and I've watched the play at least 3 times throughout the years. I've wondered though if any production has ever transplanted the *gasp* Academy Award-nominated "Mean Green Mother from Outer Space" back into the musical.

Oh yeah, whatever you do, don't feed the plant.

Unfortunately the song isn't available for use in the stage version, unless you happen to have a few extra dollars.. Grr... That and you'd probably have to call up the author and be a personal friend in order to get it put in...

If I don't get the role, I'll go out for the role of the plant itself.

You need to have a good strong upper body...
Strong legs and good lower back...
And you pretty much become the plant.
So it'd look wicked cool on my resume, even though I wouldn't be singing...
I'd be getting a workout working that plant.
So we'll see what happens...

When the group did the show years ago, the guy who did the plant puppetwork came out to do the bows after the show was over, and was drenched with sweat, etc...
So I would need to modify my workouts so I could be strong enough to use the plant.. But I'd much rather play Seymour... Though the plant sounds like it's more rewarding!

Thumbs up

Audition for LSOH went moderately well.
I screwed up the song cause a beeper went off (not mine)...
But they let me start over...
So I've got a callback for Seymour.
Would be fun.
Except I now have to "learn"
"Grow For Me"... Which I already know...
It's the accompianment I don't know...
So now I must find a piano player for me...
Callback is Friday night.

And in a strange twist, the accompianist hadn't ever played "Simple Joys" from Pippin before. She did a good job, even if we were interrupted by a beeper... Which we couldn't find! Ah auditions.. It broke the ice though, cause we cracked up. Eventually the beeper stopped, but not before I overpowered it while singing my second attempt.
If I don't get Seymour, I'll admit I'd be happy to be inside the plant.
I'd get a helluva workout...
Which reminds me... Gym tommorrow, Friday and Saturday.

Good luck, and remember that since LSOH takes place in NYC, and the US has no national dental care, a chipped tooth is perfect! Do you think the real Seymore could afford a dentist? I think not! We're rooting for you!

Now go break a leg, or something...

I'll find out who the potential "Audrey" 's are tommorrow night at the callbacks.
Should be interesting.
I wonder who they'll end up casting.

I just finished 30 minutes of taking off the Zombie makeup.
What a night. Thousands of people took thousands of photos of us.
I'm sure I'm bound to pop up on the web somewhere..!
Anyways, where to begin! First at 5:30 we signed in, got into costume, and then waited for makeup and hair.
I made sure to get photos of me before and after so I will get them posted before the week is out. Promise.
After we were sufficiently gory and gross looking, we grabbed handfuls of posters promoting the movie, and went to wander the crowds at the Much Music Video Awards.
Don't know if we ended up on film... But a lot of people took a lot of photos. And it was fun to scream and mumble and rant...
To ourselves of course, in Zombie nonsense...
Zombie's don't speak english.
The majority of the crowd loved us... So many, sigh, Asian people came up to pose with us and take pictures... But a lot of everyday people, white, black, young, old took pictures and posed as well...

I must admit it was fun scaring the children. When you see the pictures, you will see why. I was not my usual gorgeous self.
I do have a new respect for those wearing latex prosthetics in both movies and on stage.. The most I've ever worn were moustaches... But never fake cuts and scars before. It was sad destroying a good suit, but as I reminded myself, it's useable again for other projects... And getting paid for ruining a suit bought at goodwill is okay with me.
Did you know they've flavoured fake blood? It's mint flavoured.. :P
We did have a minor run in with the law... d:-)
Some of the bad Zombies got a little too carried away and were being rude and very overbearing.. Bumping elbows into people, smacking heads, butting in... They were threatened with being arrested, so we backed off.
The rest of the night we just wandered around, posed for pictures, and generally made a lot of people smile.
I'm beat. Have a good Monday morning, cause I know I'm sleeping in.

(No word yet on Little Shop...)

Incidentally I rode the subway home dressed as a Zombie. Full make up and all. A lot of people gawked and stared... But the person who surprised me the most? The bus driver connecting after the subway.
I said it was for a promotion. He basically acted like half dead people dressed up with weird makeup and stuff got on his buses all the time...
Sometimes the world is too strange for its own good.

G.

Hey guys. Some new pics of me...
It wasn't technically a "SHOW" but performance art.. But here are the rest of the pictures of me looking ever so lovely as a Zombie.
Terrorizing the streets of Toronto at the Much Music Video Awards.
;D

Oh it was a lot of fun. And I got lots of cardio from walking around..

Back to the gym intensely this week.
The last month of my membership is July (it ends the 31st) and I still don't have a new job so I have to hit the weights hard so I have somewhat of a physique.

Although I do love my new pecs, and lats, they just aren't big enough for me.

G.

Well guys I have been going to the gym off and on lately...

But with lack of funds it's difficult to get to the gym.. Due to the cost of four fares. My city, and then Toronto.. My membership is up at the end of the month and I won't be renewing it...
I'll find a new gym tho...
I have an interview (finally) tommorrow, after months of none...

To be a security guard.

Hey it's a living.
I'd even be working in my own city...
So cross your fingers guys!
Otherwise I'm selling ice cream, or working a night shift..

Good luck! If it doesn't work out, you can always move down here. There are way more jobs than people, and LVAC is very cheap! But good luck Gordo!

Ah, auditions... Hi ho, the glamorous life... Every once in a while I'm tempted to just go to an open call for a Broadway show again just to see how I'd fare. I've never had a fantastic pyrotechnic voice, but I was always regarded for wringing the shit out of lyrics. See, this is why I have a blog now to discuss such things... ;-)

You wanna talk Sondheim, Gordon, you've met a formidable adversary...
